Drishyam 3: Mohanlal Confirms the Much-Awaited Sequel, Ending All Speculation

The Drishyam franchise, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, has been a game-changer in Malayalam cinema. The first film, released in 2013, became a massive success and inspired multiple remakes in different Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu. It even had a Chinese adaptation titled Sheep Without a Shepherd (2019). The gripping storyline and Mohanlal’s stellar performance made Drishyam one of the most iconic thrillers in Indian cinema.

In 2021, the franchise got a sequel, Drishyam 2, which continued the suspenseful tale of Georgekutty and his family. Since then, speculation about a third installment has been making rounds. However, last October, director Jeethu Joseph clarified that the rumors about a locked script and an announcement were false. But now, fans have reason to celebrate as the much-awaited Drishyam 3 has been officially confirmed.

Mohanlal took to Instagram to share the news. He posted a picture with producer Antony Perumbavoor and director Jeethu Joseph, standing together. His caption read, “The past never stays silent. Drishyam 3 confirmed!” This announcement has sent fans into a frenzy, eagerly waiting to see what the next chapter holds. However, there is no official word on the script or when the filming will begin.

The trio of Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor, and Jeethu Joseph last collaborated for Neru, which was released in December 2023. Meanwhile, Mohanlal is also working on L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. This film is set to hit the screens on March 27, 2025.

The Drishyam series has set a benchmark in Indian cinema with its brilliant storytelling. The first film made history by becoming the first Malayalam movie to cross ?50 crore at the box office and ran for over 150 days in theatres.
