Complaint filed against Salman and Shilpa for their 'Bhangi' comment

The complaint is filed by Valmiki Samaj Action Committee against the actors for allegedly passing 'casteist' comment.

Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty have landed themselves in a legal trouble. The Valmiki Samaj Action Committee has registered a complaint against Salman and Shilpa in Delhi for allegedly passing derogatory comments against the Scheduled Castes in TV shows.

Salman in a recent interview had used the word 'Bhangi' to describe his dancing skills. Khan was promoting Tiger Zinda Hai and had commented, "I look like a Bhangi doing this step".  Shilpa, on the other hand, used the 'Bhangi' word while interacting with media, to describe her choice of clothing at home.

Their comments didn't go down well with the Valmiki Samaj. A complaint was received by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) from an ex-chairman of the Delhi Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Harnam Singh. The NCSC has asked the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the police commissioners of Delhi and Mumbai to respond to the complaint registered against Salman and Shilpa.

The members of the Valmiki community also shared a Facebook post:

The angered members of the community also protested against the release of Salman's latest action film 'Tiger Zinda Hai' in Agra. As of now, both the actors have not responded on the same.

Looks like after this our Bollywood actors need to be cautious while speaking at events.
