Chum Darang reacts to to Elvish Yadav’s Racist comments on her: ”Not Okay with Racism”

Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang has finally responded to the racist comments made by Elvish Yadav. In a strong Instagram story, she criticized his remarks and highlighted the need to respect people's identities, names, and achievements.

Elvish Yadav’s comments targeted her Northeastern heritage and made fun of her success. Chum made it clear that there is a difference between humor and hate, saying that mocking someone’s identity and hard work is never okay.

"Disrespecting someone’s identity and name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ We need to understand the difference between humor and hate. What’s even more disappointing is that this wasn’t just about my ethnicity—my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected," she wrote.

She also showed her support for others who have faced racism, saying, "To my fellow Northeasterners and everyone who has faced racism—I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you. We all deserve respect, dignity, and equality. Let’s raise our voices against racism and spread kindness and understanding. #NoRoomForRacism #NotOkayWithRacism."

The controversy began when Elvish Yadav made racist remarks about Chum during a podcast with Rajat Dalal. His offensive comment about her looks and name sparked outrage online. Many demanded an apology from both Elvish and Rajat.
