The highly anticipated war epic Border 2 has officially begun shooting. Helmed by Anurag Singh, the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in pivotal roles.

The film’s makers took to social media on December 24, 2024, to announce the start of production with a striking image of a clapperboard bearing the title Border 2, set against a backdrop of military tanks. Their caption promised “action, drama, and patriotism like never before,” adding that the movie is set for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.

Bollywood personalities, including Ayushmann Khurrana and Suniel Shetty, cheered the project in the comments section. Fans also erupted with enthusiasm, calling the film a “blockbuster in the making” and leaving messages of support for the Indian Army.

Border 2 was officially announced in June 2024 on the anniversary of the original film’s release, with a teaser featuring Sunny Deol’s commanding voiceover. Over the months, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty were introduced as the new generation of ‘faujis.’

Produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar, the film is set to be a cinematic spectacle that aims to raise the bar for war dramas in Indian cinema.
