With another week passing by, one would have expected to have good news at the box office owing to the fact that two major films marked their release. On one hand, there was Dasara - Natural Star Nani's first PAN-India film that had an immense buzz going into release and on the other hand, there was Bholaa - Ajay Devgn's ambitious remake of the Tamil film, Kaithi that is also his fourth directorial film.
Unsurprisingly, both films witnessed good start at the box office especially Dasara - that went on to have a mammoth Day 1 of 23 crores but ever since the weekend ended, the fall for the film has been worrisome. Considering the start it had, it was predicted that passing the 100 crore mark would be a cakewalk however, the constant decline has makes it difficult for that to happen. As per trade update, the current total for Dasara stands at 66 crores with just 2.05 crores coming in on Wednesday.
Coming to Bholaa, things haven't been too encouraging for the mega film as well. Even though the film had a decent start on Day 1 with 11.20 crores, the growth for the film over the extended four-day weekend (the film released on 30th March) was extremely encouraging, as it fetched 44.28 crores. Yesterday, the film went on to collect 4.80 crores which was actually quite a dip owing to it being a holiday for many in the country. According to trade experts, the early trends suggest a Day 7 of around 3.50 crores, which isn't good news. This will take the sum total of the film to an amount between 56 to 58 crores.
Going into the weekend, there are two new releases coming in the form of the Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur starrer, Gumraah and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The only hope for Bholaa and Dasara remains another hike in the collections owing to it being a Good Friday holiday tomorrow and not a rather huge competition.
