Badshah issues Official statement over the remake of Bengali Folk Song after being accused of Plagiarism!

Bollywood rapper Badshah has landed in controversy after he was allegedly accused of lifting lyrics for his song Genda Phool from Bengali folk artiste Ratan Kahar’s song (who originally penned the song Boroloker Bitilo in 1972) without giving him any credits. The music video, starring actor Jacqueline Fernandez, is among the top trends on YouTube but a section of social media users have pointed out how the song does not mention Kahar.

Now, the rapper has released an official statement addressing the issue and revealing the efforts he’s been putting to make it right. 

In the statement issued by the rapper, Badshah tried to explain himself and offered sincere intention of helping the original writer Ratan Kahar, which does not seem to be an easy task amidst the lockdown.

Meanwhile, Badshah has faced severe backlash on social media for allegedly stealing lines. However, while the 34-year-old rapper tried his best to resolve the issue with his statement, he also mentioned that it will be a duty and honor to help an artist like Ratan Kahar in an Instagram live. 

Furthermore, musicians came forward and stated that Badshah should give Ratan Kahar a credit for his song.

Badshah and Jacquline’s Genda Phool has since then been viewed over 65 million times. The lines used in the song, especially the Bangla ones, were actually written by Shri Ratan Kahar and the lines in the discussion are from the Bengali folk song Boroloker Bitilo, which is again by Ratan Kahar.
