'Arrest Anurag Kashyap!' Demands Tajinder Bagga On His ‘Derogatory And Casteist Remark’ Against Brahmins

Anurag Kashyap has been facing criticism for his recent comments about Brahmins, which many have deemed inappropriate and hurtful. The controversy has sparked widespread discussion, with people from various walks of life, including those in the film industry, expressing their opinions on the matter.

Tajinder Bagga, politician and Bigg Boss 18 participant, has called for the arrest of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Bagga, on X (formerly Twitter), urged the Mumbai police to file an FIR against Kashyap for his recent remarks on Brahmins. He labeled Kashyap "mentally unstable" and appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take action.

The controversy erupted when Anurag Kashyap criticized the censor board during the ongoing debate surrounding the film "Phule," which depicts the lives of social reformers Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule. When a social media user commented on Kashyap's post, "Brahmins tumhare baap hain…," the filmmaker responded, "Brahmin pe main mootoonga.. koi problem? (I will urinate on Brahmins… any problem?) (sic)." The post went viral, sparking outrage from numerous Brahmin organizations.

Kashyap later issued a public apology, stating, "No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, or friends," in response to the threats his loved ones allegedly received following his remark. He requested that any anger be directed solely at him.

“This is my apology, not for my post, but for that one line taken out of context and the brewing hatred," Kashyap added. “No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, friends and colleagues getting rape and death threats from the kingpins of sanskar. So, what has been said cannot be taken back — and I won’t take it back. But if you want to abuse someone, direct it at me. My family has neither said anything nor do they ever speak out (sic)."

He further appealed to the community, “So, if it’s an apology you’re looking for, then this is my apology. Brahmins, please spare the women — even the scriptures teach this much decency, not just Manusmriti. Decide for yourselves what kind of Brahmins you truly are. As for me, I offer my apology (sic)."
