Anurag Kashyap has taken a dig at Ted Sarandos for his recent comment on whether launching in India with Sacred Games was a mistake. The honcho of the OTT said that maybe a more populist show would have worked better for the platform. This coincided with the announcement of Netflix to tie up with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Anurag Kashyap has angrily called Ted Sarandos dumb for his take on Sacred Games. Fans will remember that Sacred Games got immense worldwide recognition for its writing, story-telling and performances from Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Kubbra Sait.

Yesterday, a collaboration with Ektaa Kapoor was announced on the birthday of the TV czarina. Netizens reacted with shock wondering what kind of projects would come on the OTT giant now. The top bosses of Netflix India were also trolled by some netizens. In the past few years, the quality of Indian shows on Netflix India have been much debated. There have been very few shows that have got commercial or critical success. This is in sharp contrast to shows from other Asian nations like Japan or South Korea.
Many have agreed with what Anurag Kashyap wrote on his social media. A netizen said that many returned to watching Indian content after Sacred Games. The show is still hailed as one of the best to come out of India so far. While Netflix India has been there for few years, very few Indian-made productions have managed to hook the global audience.
