Following her appearance on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, experienced significant online trolling. In a recent interview with Zoom, Apoorva shared that the experience led to emotional growth and a reevaluation of her relationship with the internet and public perception.
“I am really happy that it happened to me. I am grateful that it happened to me because I realised the internet is not your reality. It is a digital world; you don’t live there. These people don’t matter; nothing matters. Whatever you think of yourself matters. It took me so much courage to get back out there. I am glad it happened because it helped me detach from what people are saying about me," she said.
The online backlash prompted a reevaluation of her engagement with online comments and forums. “I was in the loop of constantly checking Reddit, comments, what people are saying, and the roast videos they’re making on me. Now, I don’t care. I am glad it happened to me kyunki kisi aur ke saath hota toh nahi seh pate (had it happened with someone else, they wouldn’t have been able to tolerate it). So, I really killed with that."
Despite the challenging experience, Apoorva praised comedian and host Samay Raina. "He is really killing it," she said, acknowledging his rising popularity. “The kind of shows that he’s selling out and the kind of popularity he has, it is incredible."
She also expressed relief that the situation has improved for everyone involved. “Everyone got out of it, sort of unscathed and doing better than before."
Apoorva appeared with Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Ashish Chanchlani on the show. Following this, the clip, which allegedly contained obscenities, led to FIRs against the panel members. During an episode, Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, allegedly asked a contestant an inappropriate question about body parts and proposed an indecent act in exchange for Rs 2 crore. The outrage escalated when he posed a controversial question: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?"
