Anubhav Sinha reacts to Karni Sena’s threat against Article 15 release

Anubhav Sinha directorial Article 15 is an attempt to cast light on the issue of caste discrimination revolving in the country. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. The entire team of the film is leaving no stone unturned to bring the issue of discrimination in the limelight and talk about acceptance and change.

However the Article 15 director has found himself amidst controversy. In an interview with Mid Day, Anubhav Sinha opened up about Karni Sena opposing his film. He said, "Why would I make an anti-Brahmin film? People are smart enough to know that there were enough and more Brahmins associated with the making of the film to know [that it doesn't showcase them in bad light]."

Sinha is shocked that the Karni Sena that had challenged the release of Padmaavat last year have complete disregard for the Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) decisions. "The CBFC is an autonomous government body, which has cleared the film with a U/A certificate. It's time people respected such institutions. The CBFC should report this to the Home Ministry to curb such protests. [People] can disagree, but such overt threats must stop, once and for all. Filmmakers can't be constantly bullied," said the Mulk director.

Despite the threats, Sinha doesn't intend to seek police intervention immediately and said, "The threats are in public domain. Whenever the police thinks it should intervene, it will."

Article 15 is slated to hit the screens on June 28, 2019.

These Karni Sena people should be charged! Making threats and blackmail is a disgusting and cowardly thing to do and should be punished appropriately. They got way too far with Padmaavat and they need to be stopped before they start doing this for any and every movie or show with a liberal/secular message!
