The India-Pakistan tussle seems to be getting intensified with every passing day. A few days ago, Zindagi channel in India decided to ban all Pakistani shows from being aired and presented NEW and original shows.
On the other hand, Pakistan decided to ban all Indian films from getting released in their country. But, it's getting bigger and more intense as according to a leading news daily, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) have decided to practice a complete ban on Indian television and radio content from today.
The authority has decided to cancel one-sided rights given to Indian media by the government of Pervez Musharraf in 2006. The PEMRA Chairman was quoted as mentioning, "The current tense political situation and the actions taken by the entertainment industry in India to degrade Pakistan has helped PEMRA as the resistance in this regard has been reduced due to public sentiments."
And effective from today, the primetime Indian TV shows have been banned in Pakistan.
Some of the popular Indian shows in Pakistan includes 'Naagin', 'Thapki...Pyaar Ki', 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein', 'Qubool Hai', 'Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai' and 'May I Come In Madam?' among others.
