NHRC request Youtube to take down vulgar content

Ranveer Allahbadia's inappropriate comment regarding parents' intimacy has landed him in significant trouble. An FIR has been filed against the YouTuber, known as BeerBiceps, for his offensive and vulgar remarks during his appearance on Samay Raina's controversial show, India's Got Latent. Recently, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken action by directing YouTube to remove the video.

According to a report by The Hindu, Priyank Kanoongo, a member of the NHRC, sent a letter to YouTube requesting the removal of the "obscene and vulgar" content featuring Ranveer Allahbadia from India's Got Latent. In his correspondence with Mira Chatt, YouTube's Public Policy head, Mr. Kanoongo mentioned that the Commission received a complaint from Yogendra Singh Thakur, who claimed that the show contains highly objectionable and inappropriate remarks detrimental to Indian society.

The NHRC raised concerns about the show promoting obscene content and misleading narratives under the guise of free speech, which could foster a corrupt mindset within society. Kanoongo urged YouTube to take swift action to eliminate the specific episode or videos in question from its platform.

Prior to the removal of such content, you are also required to submit details of the channel and the specific videos to the concerned police authorities where the FIR has been registered for further necessary action

For those who may not be aware, Ranveer Allahbadia posed a controversial question to a contestant on India's Got Latent, asking, "Would you rather watch your parents have s*x for the rest of your life—or would you join in once and stop it forever?" This statement sparked significant backlash from the audience, as well as from various politicians and actors.

In addition to Ranveer Allahbadia, an FIR has also been filed against Samay Raina, the show's organizers, and social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, known as The Rebel Kid, who was part of the panel alongside Ranveer.

Following the uproar, the YouTuber shared a video on his Instagram to apologize for his vulgar comment. In his apology, Ranveer acknowledged that his remarks were inappropriate and unfunny and said, “Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry." On February 10, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also addressed the backlash, stating that action would be taken.
