Allu Arjun has spoken out following a tragic incident during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a stampede resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman named Revathi and left her nine-year-old son, Sri Tej, injured. In a heartfelt video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Allu expressed his condolences and solidarity with the victim's family.
In the video, Allu Arjun stated, “I am deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extend every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey.”
Allu began by recounting how he learned about Revathi's death after attending the premiere. “When we went to watch Pushpa's premiere at RTC Crossroads, we never expected to hear such tragic news the next day. It was deeply disheartening to learn that a family was injured and that a lady named Revathi died due to her injuries. Watching movies in theatres is a cherished ritual, but this incident left us all heartbroken,” he explained.
He extended his support on behalf of the Pushpa team, saying, “We understand that no words or actions can ever compensate for the loss you are bearing. We stand with you emotionally and will do everything within our capacity to support you in this difficult time.” In a gesture of goodwill, Allu announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh to secure the family's future and pledged to cover medical expenses for those injured.
“My only request to all fans is to be cautious while enjoying our movies. Our entire intention is to provide good entertainment for families to enjoy together. Please take care and ensure you return home safely after watching the film,” he concluded.
The chaos at Sandhya Theatre occurred on December 4 during special screenings of Pushpa 2: The Rule, which had generated significant excitement among fans. As Allu Arjun arrived with his family, an overwhelming crowd surged towards him, leading to a stampede-like situation. Revathi attended the premiere with her two sons but became trapped in the crush, resulting in her tragic death and her son's critical injuries.
Revathi was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Sri Tej was transferred to KIMS Hospital for further treatment. The incident has raised concerns about crowd management, as police reported that thousands had gathered without adequate security measures in place.
In response to the tragedy, police have launched an investigation and registered a case against Allu Arjun and the theatre management for negligence. They noted that there was no prior notification about Allu's arrival, which contributed to the chaotic scene.
As Pushpa 2: The Rule continues its run in theaters following its worldwide release on December 5, Allu Arjun's actions reflect both his commitment to his fans and his compassion for those affected by this heartbreaking event.
