Alia Bhatt reveals she is Honoured to be Invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences!

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt is one of the few celebrities who has been among the new list of invitees to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is 36% people of color and 45% women. 

Along with Alia, Hrithik Roshan, Casting directors Nandini Shrikent and Tess Joseph, costume designer Neeta Lulla, documentary filmmakers Nishtha Jain and Amit Madheshiya, visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal and film score composer Nainita Desai are among the 819 people who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

She took to her Instagram handle and made an official statement which read, "I thank The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for inviting me to be a member of the Academy. I feel at once honoured and humbled (sic)."

She mentioned the satisfaction in seeing voices from Indian cinema finding the deserved platform on the world stage. SHe added, "Every year, more actors, filmmakers and technicians from India are recognised by the Academy and Indian cinema continues to reach the hearts and homes of people all over the world (sic)."

She concluded stating that movies act as the glue that binds people, especially at a time when the world is divided by social media.

For the unversed, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the institution that organises the Oscars. If the invitees accept the invitation, which most do, they will have the voting privileges at this year's Oscars.

Last year, Anupam Kher, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap received the honour to be a part of the Academy.
