Akshay Kumar is all set to make a comeback with the satirical comedy-drama OMG 2 after facing a series of critical and commercial failures. Directed by Amit Rai, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam Dhar, Govind Namdev, and Arun Govil, and is scheduled to hit the screens on August 11.
As the film gears up for its release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted an 'A' (Adults Only) certificate to OMG 2 without suggesting any cuts. However, the CBFC has recommended more than 25 modifications to the film.
For the unversed, OMG 2 revolves around the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devout follower of Lord Shiva residing in the temple town of Ujjain. The film takes viewers on a journey as his god manifests before him during a crucial moment and aids him in overcoming the challenges he faces.
Earlier this month, the makers treated audiences with a one-minute-26-second teaser, offering a glimpse into OMG 2's intriguing world and introducing key characters. In the movie, Akshay Kumar essays the role of Lord Shiva, while Pankaj Tripathi portrays a devoted follower.
However, amidst the film's preparations, a controversy arose as a priest from Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar temple demanded the deletion of scenes filmed at the shrine, as reported by news agency ANI.
The film is a sequel to the 2012 hit film 'OMG- Oh My God!' The film is produced by Cape of Good Films, Ashwin Varde, Vipul D Shah and Rajesh Bahl. Dr Chandraprakash Diwedi is the creative producer of the movie.
