Akshay Kumar Extends Financial Help to Mumbai’s Gaiety-Galaxy Theatre

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned in helping the needy amid this appalling state of coronavirus in the nation. The actor has been actively creating awareness about the novel virus and has also donated graciously to the PM Cares Fund. Akshay has now come to the rescue of Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety-Galaxy theatre, to help the officials who cannot pay their staff due to the ongoing lockdown.

A Mid Day report stated that Manoj Desai, owner of the Mumbai cinema hall, had to take a bank loan to provide salaries to his employees amid the coronavirus lockdown. When Akshay got to know about the same, he called them and offered help. 

Three days ago, I got a call from Akshayji. He offered to provide financial assistance if the scenario continues. It was kind of him to offer help, but we should find a way to sustain ourselves. We have managed to collect enough funds to pay the salaries for this month, but the theatre shutdown will have long-term ramifications. Our focus is to ensure we don’t trim staff or resort to pay cuts.

Besides, Akshay Kumar was among the first celebrities who stepped forward to donate money to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to aid needy people hit by coronavirus. Akshay has donated a whopping amount of Rs 25 crores and encouraged others to do their bit.

“This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai,” Akshay wrote on Twitter. To this, PM Modi replied, “Great gesture @akshaykumar. Let’s keep donating for a healthier India.”
