96 Part 2: Trisha Krishnan, Vijay Sethupathi to come together for Prem Kumar's sequel?

Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan’s 96 is one of the most loved Indian romantic films of all times. C Prem Kumar made us fall in love with childhood sweethearts Ram and Janu, who meet after years at a school reunion. 96 touched hearts and people were keen to see a sequel of the movie. Many wanted Ram and Janu to reunite in their middle age. In the movie, Ram was working in Tamil Nadu as a travel photographer while Janu was wedded to a man based in Singapore. The director C Prem Kumar has confirmed that he has a script ready for part two of 96. He also said that he cannot imagine part two of 96 with other actors than the ones in the first film.

C Prem Kumar has said that he has shown the script to Vijay Sethupathi’s wife who loved it. Now, he is waiting for a response from Vijay and Trisha. He said he can begin the movie if they allocate dates for the same. In the first movie, the two discuss the circumstances that separated them as lovers. Both of them have an emotional meltdown in the climax. People were quite keen to see an alternate ending to the movie. The two had amazing chemistry. 96 swept many awards that season.

Prem Kumar earlier told a Tamil YouTube channel, “I am excited to work on 96 Part 2. Initially, I wasn't keen on making a sequel to 96, but things have evolved. I have finished writing the script for 96 Part 2, I have only a few portions left to write. I shared the storyline with Vijay Sethupathi's wife, and she liked it. Let's see what the future has in store, I have to see if Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha can allocate their dates as well.”

It was remade in Telugu as Jaanu starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sharwanand. His 2024 movie Meiyazhagan was also critically acclaimed with Karthi and Arvind Swamy in lead roles.
