8th June: Two Starlets Born!

8th June indeed happens to be the birthday of two shinning ladies, namely Dimple Kapadia and Shilpa Shetty.

Lets begin with the beloved Dimple 'Bobby' Kapadia, who born this day in 1957 turns 53 years old on Tuesday. And though years threaten to pile up, one has to admit Dimple's charm to enthrall the audiences grows better like aging wine. Having seen a rocky marriage with superstar of yesteryear, Rakesh Khanna, Ms. Kapadia at an early stage of the matrimony moved out with her two daughters, Twinkle and Rinkie. Today however, the love of a family - daughters, son-in-laws, and grand children - completes her world on the personal front. Professionally, after a hiatus from the industry following her wedlock with Khanna, when Dimple returned on screen with co star and friend Rishi Kapoor in Ramesh Sippy's Saagar, she proved how the days of her stardom were far from past. Thereafter, she gracefully transitioned from playing the lead roles in films to those of older, mature, but central characters. To her credit are movies like 'Jaanbaaz', 'Kaash', 'Saazish', 'Aitbaar', 'Ram Lakhan', 'Batwara', 'Drishti', 'Lekin', 'Prahaar', and of the more recent decades, 'Rudaali', 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Being Cyrus' and 'Luck By Chance'.

Birthday girl #2 is none other than tinsel town's famed diva, Shilpa Shetty. Born the same date, in the year of 1975, Shilpa as of today is both professionally and personally the envy of many a women! Married to London's leading industrialist Raj Kundra last year, she leads a life that can be easily termed the proverbial happily-ever-after; whilst her career graph post rocketing to fame with Big Brother has been on an exponential rise. This year, from what we hear, hubby Kundra plans to whisk away his lady love for three days - 7th, 8th, 9th - to Macau, one of her favorite holiday spots. In planning the surprise, Raj successfully managed to keep her diary free of any other engagements for these three days. Consequently, an elated Shilpa can't help but gloat about the excitement of her first birthday as Mrs. Shilpa Kundra!
