This Bollywood superstar was born with the name ‘Inquilab Shrivastava,’ however, it was later changed by his father after a poet asked him to do so. His changed name is something that the world knows him by now. However, not much is known about his real name.

This actor is none other than Amitabh Bachchan, fondly addressed as the ‘Shehnshah’ of Bollywood. Amitabh, who was born in the British ruled India to Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, was named Inquilab at birth. Various reports suggest that this name was later changed by his father the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan on the suggestion of poet Sumitranandan Pant.

Not just the name, Amitabh changed his surname too:

During an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati a few years ago, Amitabh had revealed how his father changed their surname Shrivastava to Bachchan, which was his pen name. “You will never know what our caste is, from our surname and Babuji did this deliberately,” the actor revealed.
