R. Madhavan 25 years

If there’s one thing that any cinephile and ardent fan of Madhavan can vouch for, it’s that the actor is one of the most-versatile actors out there. Be it in Bollywood or any film down south, Ranganathan Madhavan, aka Maddy, sure knows how to play any role under the sun with impeccable sincerity to leave us in awe. Along with his charm that continues to win hearts aplenty, the actor is known to bite into the meat of the role making us believe that it’s the character and not him who we see on screen.

As the actor looks back on his career having completed a glorious 25 years, here are five of his looks where he made us fall in love with him all over again.

The Chocolate Boy in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein:

Who can forget the heartbroken Maddy singing his heart out in Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana that made you wish this poor guy gets the girl? Despite the film, directed by Gautham Menon, being his first Hindi film, this was the movie that told everyone that Madhavan is very much here to stay. His boyish charm struck a chord in our hearts as we rooted for this college boy who is absolutely carefree.

Making the character look more realistic, Maddy mostly wore jeans, t-shirt and a jacket with the tees being a V- neck or turtleneck to give a trendy vibe. The attire was mainly made up of dark colours like grey, black, blue, green, purple.

The Rugged Hipster in Maara:

Maara, directed by Dhilip Kumar under Pramod Films, is an upcoming romantic film releasing exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 8th January 2021. Once again making a style statement, we see Madhavan in a completely new avatar as he dons ripped and baggy jeans, a diamond stud on his ear with his hair and beard being unkept and long.

Along with this, we see him wearing unique color sweatshirts, one of them being a mix of mustard and pink, with the other full of vibrant colours like neon pink, yellow and green. Adding the finishing touch to the look is his Bullet bike and trendy sunglasses. Who knew that a painter could ooze so much swag with his clothes and other fashion accessories.

The Coach Sahab in Saala Khadoos:

We have seen many actors playing and nailing the role of a coach. But few have managed to pack a punch quite like Madhavan in Saala Khadoos where he played Prabhu, a boxer who represented India in the Olympics 1996. His style in this movie ticked on all the boxes on the most-handsome coach checklist. He left girls swooning wearing a V-neck and plain T-shirts that gave us a glimpse of his muscular biceps and chest.

Amongst the other accessories which very well complimented his look were loose track pants, sports shoes, aviators, a whistle around the neck and a sports watch. In a movie that was all things boxing, Madhavan was an absolute knockout to say the very least.

A Police Inspector in Vikram Vedha:

The role he did as Vikram, a police inspector was nothing short of unique and phenomenal. The challenge was that he was never in a police uniform yet the character seemed so magnetic and powerful, one felt like he was Tollyywod's Singham. Half sleeves T-shirts, crisp ironed white full sleeve shirts, trimmed beard, aviators and a gun were the style accessories which made him look like a police officer on duty who means business.

A Cello Player in Nishabdam:

‘My name is Anthony Gonsalves’, is what Madhavan would certainly say for his role in Nishabdam. This movie gave him an opportunity to showcase his character as a gentleman. During his cello concerts, he wore a traditional black and white tux with a bow with polished black shoes looking as dapper and suave as ever. Showing that he can rock the casual look with relative ease, he made a lot of style statements in the film with his t-shirts, hoodie and jeans.
