Saiyaara has made people shed buckets at the theatres. After a long time, we have a romantic movie that has pulled the heartstrings. We have seen numerous videos where people are weeping inconsolably. People who have seen the movie have confirmed that it is doing equally well in urban and rural centres. The videos where we have seen people collapsing in the cinema halls has made people wonder what is actually happening. We have heard of people being teary-eyed after seeing movies but this is unprecedented. Saiyaara is galloping at the Rs 400 crore mark at the box office.
In the above video, the person is discussing how Saiyaara built this hysteria around the nation. The film has been called as average by many on social media. Also, we have seen netizens trolling the emotional videos of Gen-Z as ‘nibba-nibbi content’. It is a somewhat condescending slang to refer youth in the country who are below 25 years of age. However, the box office success of Saiyaara speaks a different story. Cinema lovers have argued that every generation has its own love story and Saiyaara is the one for this era.
Tanishaa Mukerji said in the comments, “Completely disagree. Times are changing and these people are stuck in the past. Love and appreciate the new. And honestly, what rubbish is this man saying? Does he know anything for a fact. He is using the phenomenon of Saiyaara to get views by talking negatively.”
She said that there is nothing wrong with emotional reactions to a movie. Tanishaa Mukerji said Indians are an emotional lot, and do tend to express themselves freely. She said just because some old people cannot relate does not mean it is fake, paid or plain stupid.
"If people are reacting to a film what is so wrong about that. Just because he cannot relate doesn’t mean the younger generation doesn’t either. Every generation is different. This is India. We react. Go watch the film see how the audiences are moved. Then talk. This is just Bollywood bashing ! Brands just have to find new ways to connect to their audiences!”
