Chapter 7: Jealousy and Lies

"Your sister, has the face of an angel Shaurya, I am sure you know that. I want her to be the face of Agarwal's... Sanjay said to him on the phone. The thought of her face being everywhere irked Shaurya.

"No He said without hesitating.

"Don't you think you should ask her? Maybe she would like the idea, she is fresh and incredibly innocent it is just the look we are looking for, why don't you give me her number

"No thank you, and no you won't be getting her number. She is not interested. Shaurya looked up and found her at his door. She was like a weed stubborn, whenever he thought he had pushed her far enough she came back to him.

Her big brown eyes, looked sad as she walked towards him.

"To what do I owe the pleasure? He said, trying to ignore the scent of her skin that hit him even though she was safely across him and his desk separated them. His hands clenched in his lap, she was wearing a deep blue vest and white denim shorts. He wondered if he told her one of the biggest textile moguls wanted her, to be their face. She would have left. She would never have looked back probably. A little voice in his head mocked him that he did not want her to go anywhere.

Her long black hair was in a ponytail.

She pushed some hair behind her ear.

"I was wondering if you would like to go out with daddy and I? She asked, his eyes narrowed.

"Why?

"I know he would never say it, but he wants to make up for everything Mehek said, Shaurya almost laughed at her. Was she really that dumb?

"My father never cared for me nor do I expect him to now, and what did I tell you about your clothing? He asked her, Mehek glared at him. Her eyes hardened and her chin tilted upwards.

"If I am a wh**e should I not dress like one too what do you care She challenged him, yes what did he care. He cared all right he did not want anyone imagining the things he imagine every time she moved in those tiny shorts.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of money.

"Use this to buy yourself something that covers your whole body. He said and carried on typing on his laptop. Mehek stared at the money but did not take it.

"I cannot take money from you She said turning away.

"Why?

"Because I am not your wh**e She said angrily, Shaurya was across the table in a flash, and he grabbed her wrist and turned her around to face him.

"So who buys you all these expensive outfits Mehek? He asked, her.

"Let go of my hand Mehek said trying to pull away. He let go of her and she fell onto the floor. He stared at her pale legs, and sneakers then raised his eyes to her face.

"You are jealous again She said looking at him with shock. Shaurya looked away. And she stood up, she reached out and turned his face, so that his eyes would meet her own.

Her eyes sparkled.

"You are jealous She repeated, a smile lit her face. And Shaurya pushed her hand away.

"There is no way in hell I would ever be jealous He said, looking at the window.

"You cannot stand someone else looking at me the way you do. The thought of it drives you mad She said, getting close to him. Shaurya pushed her away.

"It doesn't I don't give a damn about you. You were always an idiot and you still are one He said going around his table to keep a distance between them.

She went to his door, with an irritating smile on her face. That bothered him the rest of the day.

Mehek was studying with his father, Shaurya snorted seeing them together, She had a doll attached to her arm and was frowning over her textbook.

"Daddy this makes no sense She said, Shaurya ease dropped as his father mixed up 3^rd grade maths. He half wondered how his father made it so far being so dumb.

"Just excuse me for a little bit doll, I am going to make one phone call you just read this here Mehek looked at the text book and pouted, while his father went off to take his call. Shaurya walked towards her and stopped in front of her, she looked up at him and smiled. Despite his constant rejections and rebukes Mehek would always smile at him like the sun shined out of his ass and make him feel guiltier.

"Father is teaching you it wrong. Ask him to get a tutor for you or you will fail He told her, She looked back at her books.

He carried on walking out of the room when his father went back inside.

"Shaurya my boy why don't you come sit with us?

"I have better things to do then hear you mix up third grade work

His father said nothing and went to Mehek, who smiled at his father like she did at him.

He sighed, waiting for her to say what he had told her but she said nothing.

A week later Mehek came back with an 80 percent on a test, Shaurya's eyes narrowed as she hugged his father. And pretended as if his help had gotten her that A.

She saw him watching her and looked away.

He went to them and picked her paper up and sure enough she had a high score.

Awara called his father for something and his father went out of the room.

"With whatever my father was teaching you there was no way you would pass how did you do this? He asked her.

"He really wanted to teach me Shaurya, how could I turn him down. I already knew the syllabus She said. She had lied to make his father happy. Lied. A lie is a lie not matter the circumstances.

Lies made people weak.

"Please don't tell anyone, Shaurya She said, reaching out to touch his arm. "It would just hurt daddy's feelings She said, her lips trembled. Shaurya pulled his hand away.

She relaxed, he noticed from the corner of his eyes when he walked away. She was pathetic weak. He should go right to his father and rat out her lies, but hearing her cry always felt like a stab in his chest. It left him incredibly uncomfortable.

Now.

Shaurya was about to eat. When he realised his father and Mehek had still not go back home yet from their trip out.

He did not feel like eating, he went to his window and looked at his watch it was late out. If something happened to her, Harish would probably never be able to protect her.

She was small and weak.

He stared out the window for god knows how long. Until he saw the car come back. Mehek and his father got off and walked together hand in hand, looking happy.

"Daddy I had a great time, that movie was so funny She said, happily. His father patted her head affectionately, in the foyer. Shaurya ease dropped.

"See it was better than anabelle why would you want to see that? he asked her shuddering. The old man looked scarier than the demon doll, why would it scare her.

"I love the adrenalin rush you get from watching horror Mehek told him. Shaurya was jealous he noted in that moment. He was jealous of how easily she made everyone love her. With her lies, and her pretty face. She was incredibly powerful. She knew it as well.

She had done the impossible she had made Harish go from an abusive tyrannical asshole with philandering ways into a man who somewhat resembled a father.

He had brought Harish here to teach him a lesson, but watching the change in the old man sickened him. He had finally found a love that did not run out when there was no money, he got a perfect pretty daughter. Who looked at him like he hung the moon and stars.
