CHAPTER 17
"Shaurya si..Shaurya? Mehak replied sounding shocked
"Yes the monster you love so much, I can feel the desperation in your voice were you that desparate to hear from me again Mehak? Shaurya teased her, much to Mehak's annoyance who rolled her eyes at his words "Why would I miss you? And how did you get my number Mehak questioned him "Don't worry about that Mehak I do deep background checks on my employees and keep all their information with myself Shaurya replied to her annoying her further "And what was that you leaving your job like that without even informing me, how can you do that Mehak? Shaurya asked her now in a serious tone "I am sorry I had to leave for some personal reasons Mehak told him looking at her mother who was sleeping, Shaurya already knew what she was talking about and felt bad for her knowing that she doesn't know that her mother has a brain tumour "Ok I won't ask you what those reasons were Mehak but you can count on me whenever you want Shaurya told her with all his sincerity, Mehak was surprised how much he has changed now, first those last days at work he sounded and acted different and now but she deep down she was liking this side of him "Thanks Shaurya Mehak replied to him "So are we friends? Shaurya asked her, "Hmm we need to work on that Mehak told him "Oh we will...Do you love surprises Mehak? Shaurya asked her with a grin, "Hmm good ones yes...Kinda Mehak replied "Ok then come to the garden Shaurya told her and cut the call. Mehak was surprised how does he know where she was and about the gardens here? and called him mental'. Mehak went out to the gardens where Shaurya was hiding behind a tree, she looked around and there was no one there, Shaurya sneaked up behind her and scared her, Mehak shouted and was about to fall when he grabbed her by the waist and held her and quickly put his hand on her mouth "Shhh Mehak don't shout Shaurya told her keeping his hand on her mouth while his other hand held her waist, Mehak looked at him with a shocked expression, she looked at him with wide eyes, Shaurya looked at her with a evil grin, Shaurya took his hand of her mouth and made her stand up, "Missed me? his voice brought her back from her shock "Sha..Shaurya what are you doing here? she asked him, Shaurya chuckled "What are your guesses Mehak, what should a monster be doing, feeding on his prey and tonight it looks like you may be my meal Shaurya teased her, Mehak tried to go away but Shaurya grabbed her by her arm "Ok ok that was a silly joke, Khanna mansion and I am Shaurya Khanna so what should a Khanna be doing in Khanna Mansion?, Mehak again had a shock expression with mouth wide opened, Shaurya closed her mouth "Now better, don't be shocked Mehak we will be living under the same roof now he winked at her. Mehak thought to herself how silly of her to not get this was Shaurya Khanna's mansion and played the recent events in her head and got angry "So it was you all the time messing with me while I was scared to death, "Calm down Mehak I thought Ella must have told you about me but you didn't know and so I thought to have some fun he told her with a smile "And you also took my mobile number without my permission when I left my mobile in the kitchen?, "Yes guilty as charged Shaurya put his hands up to suggest he has surrendered "You are unbelievable Mr.Khanna she turned away and was about to go when he caught her hand again and pulled her to him, her hands were resting on his chest "You haven't seen the monster in me yet Mehak, don't wake it up or else you don't know what he can do Shaurya told her looking into her big brown eyes with his face very close to hers, Mehak was feeling uncomfortable with his close proximity and tried to free herself but he didn't flinch and held her more tight "Let me go Mehak ordered him, "Why should I? Shaurya told her with such authority that it scared her "What do you mean why? Let me go she told him trying to free herself again "Ok I will let you go but after this. Mehak was shell shocked by his next move, Shaurya bent his head to kiss her one cheek hard which lasted for some time, he lifted his head to see Mehak's expression and seeing her shocked expression he chuckled and went on to kiss her other cheek. He then cupped her face and told her "Don't ever go away like that ever again from me, one kiss was you leaving like that in Nice without even telling me and the other one was you now going away he continued now putting his finger on her lips "Consider this as your sweet punishments but if you do that again then I know my next target he told her in a husky voice. Mehak was froze there when suddenly they both were brought back to reality by a car honk, it was Karuna who had come back. Shaurya held Mehak's hand and both hid behind the bushes. Shaurya signalled her to be quiet, Mehak sat with Shaurya thinking about what just happened, Shaurya looked up from the bushes to see if Karuna was gone who was going away when he suddenly fell onto the bush and the sound made Karuna stop and look. "Oh shit he got up and took Mehak's hand in his "Come Mehak, "What where are you taking me? Mehak asked him "Stop asking questions now Mehak and come with me, mom is coming this way she went with him to his room. Karuna came to the bushes there was no one there "Must be a cat or something she went from there. In Shaurya's room both were relieved, Mehak told him she is going now but he blocked her way "My place is comfy too if you want to stay he winked at her, Mehak was angry and pushed him off to open the sliding glass door, he had locked it and she didn't know how to open it, he laughed at her struggles to open the door suddenly they heard steps approaching his room. Shaurya looked at the door "It must be mom, go hide behind that couch Mehak, quick. Mehak ran to hide behind the couch, Shaurya's room lights were turned off and he pretended to be asleep. Karuna came in and checked on him and found him to be sleeping. Mehak was worried to not be caught in Shaurya's room, Karuna closed the curtains and went away closing the door behind her. Both Shaurya and Mehak felt relieved, Mehak quickly went to the door and tried to open it, Shaurya got up "Let me and he opened the door for her "Always a pleasure Mehak, we will be seeing each other a lot and by the way what time do you leave in morning, I will be your driver now Shaurya teased her, Mehak stopped in her tracks and looked back at him and left without saying anything "Let's see Mehak I will be driving you everywhere now Shaurya chuckled and closed the door.
Mehak came back to her room quietly to not wake up her mom. She laid down in her bed and played the scene in her head what just happened a while back, she touched her cheeks how he kissed her there and was lost in thinking why he said those things. She tried to get some sleep but couldn't as Shaurya Khanna was ruling her mind. She tossed around in her bed just then a message flashed on her mobile screen it was from Shaurya "Good Night Mehak!! Loved that kiss and I am sure you did as well and are replaying it in your mind as I am over and over again (Kiss emoji). Have sweet dreams of me (Kiss emoji), Mehak read the message and put her phone down on the side table. Shaurya waited for her response but she didn't reply back. He decided to text her again. Mehak's mobile screen flashed again "Not even a Good Night message, how rude Mehak?, Mehak huffed and decided to reply or else he won't stop "Good Night Mr.Khanna. Have nightmares (Ghost Emoji) (Ghost Emoji) she replied back, Shaurya read it in an instant and chuckled "A pleasure as always Miss.Mehak Sharma (Kiss emoji), she read it and a smile crept on her face, she put her phone down referring to him as "Silly and tried to sleep and finally dozed off. Shaurya kept his mobile close to his chest and dozed off.
It was morning. Shaurya had set his alarm pretty early to be ahead of Mehak and drive her where ever she wanted to go but he didn't wake up on the alarm. Mehak prepared breakfast with Ella quickly looking here and there to see if Shaurya was there so that she should leave before he comes and then his words he would be her driver echoed in her head and she went away quickly from there. Harish was back from his India trip and Ella served both Harish and Karuna breakfast. Shaurya woke up trying to look what the time was it was 7:30 am, looking at it he quickly got up cursing himself and got ready. He came out to the kitchen asking Ella where was Mehak. Ella was confused by his question but told him she was gone. Shaurya quickly went out to his car and drove away not noticing his parents having breakfast in the garden and noticing him. Harish and Karuna asked Ella what happened? She told them he drove off without doing his breakfast. Karuna told Harish that he must be late and now that he is so serious about his work he doesn't take care of himself. Harish was happy by the change in him but didn't say anything to Karuna and he left for the office. Shaurya was hoping he would catch Mehak on the way but Mehak was gone, he stopped his car and cursed himself "You have done it this time, I won't let you do it again he hit the steering wheel of his car in frustration and left for the office. Shaurya was thinking about Mehak only at work while Mehak was with Anna and told her what had happened last night, Anna made fun of Mehak and told her Shaurya was may be in love with her, she told her it was nothing like that, Shaurya just loves to tease her "So what about those kisses then? Anna asked, Mehak put her hand on her cheeks and remembered how he kissed her, a smile crept on her face, Anna snapped her fingers in front of her getting her back to reality "Looks like our Mehak may be in love too Anna teased her, "Shut up Anna you talk all nonsense, lets go we have other places to go to find job Mehak told her diverting the subject "Yeah yeah right Anna followed her laughing.
At the office Shaurya didn't know what to do, he was going through his facebook just then he thought of searching Mehak's profile and he did. He typed Mehak Sharma' and there she was, he was smiling looking at her profile pic in which she made a kissy face. He stared at her for quite some time, lost in her, he was brought back by a knock on the door, it was Vicky and he had come to discuss something with him, he quickly closed his laptop, Vicky asked him if he was alright and he told him he was. After Vicky was gone he resumed his stalking again looking for if she had any guy friend and luckily for him she didn't have any, he was relieved, he thought of sending her a friend request "Should I do it now? May be I will do it later, she needs to be punished first he smiled and closed his laptop with that. It was night time and Ella and Meera served dinner to everyone, Harish looked sad and lost, Karuna asked him if everything was Ok. He nodded in a yes. Shaurya hoped Mehak would come serve them but it was Ella and Meera. Harish looked at Meera and praised her cooking. Shaurya too praised her cooking, they brought the sweet after dinner which was a strawberry cake made by Mehak. Everyone tasted it and loved it very much. Harish asked who had made this and Ella told them it was made by Mehak. Harish asked them to bring her, Meera looked at Karuna who was not happy. Mehak came in and Harish called her "Come Mehak bet... Karuna looked at him and he stopped at the word beta. Shaurya was surprised by his father's words too as he has never shown that kind of affection before but he kept quiet and kept looking at Mehak as if she was the strawberry cake he wants to feast on. Harish praised Mehak's cake and praised both mother and daughter for their cooking telling them that both have magic in their hands. Karuna looked at Meera to suggest to her to leave. Meera left with Mehak both saying Thank You. Harish looked at Karuna and shook his head at what she did. Everyone was done and left for their rooms. Shaurya was in his room laying on his bed thinking about Mehak, he went to the kitchen hoping she might be there and she was with lights switched off eating her own strawberry cake that was left off. She was sitting behind the counter enjoying the cake, taking a piece and enjoying it with her eyes closed. Shaurya came behind the counter silently so that she doesn't know and sat beside her smiling at her enjoying the cake and making those sounds that he wanted to get out of her in some other ways. He got closer and closer to her while Mehak still didn't know he was there with her eyes closed and kissed on her cheek again, Mehak opened her eyes in shock and looked at him with a shocked expression who was smiling back at her. She stood up and asked him why he keeps kissing her like that? "May be because I crave a different kind of sweet dish to that cake Shaurya told her naughtily, her mouth made a shocked O' expression and started to leave when he grabbed her and pushed her to the counter, he held both her hands in his and pinned it behind "What are you doing Mehak asked him worriedly "What do you think I am doing? Tasting my own sweet Mehak, I love this sweet dish only he told her in his husky voice looking at her lips. She struggled to free herself but every time she did his grip on her tightened "Should I dig in..hmmm? Mehak? his lips were now very close to hers, her breath got heavier, she closed her eyes as he was about to kiss her they heard someone coming to the kitchen, Mehak opened her eyes and this time freed herself and pushed him. "Dammit Shaurya was frustrated as he didn't kiss her. It was Karuna, Mehak had quickly gone out and Shaurya grabbed a water bottle and Mehak's cake and pretended to be eating it. He told Karuna he was craving for more of this and left.
Next morning Shaurya was up earlier than usual to catch Mehak escaping him this time. He was waiting for her outside, Mehak feared he might be so he peeped her head outside to look for him and she saw his car standing right outside, she quickly went in seeing it. Shaurya was waiting in his car "Lets see Mehak how you escape me today. He kept looking in his side mirrors but Mehak didn't show up, he was getting late to the office as well, just then Harish called him and told him as soon as he gets in the office he should meet him as he has something important to tell him. "I will let it go today only Mehak but you will be punished for this again with that he left for office.
At the office.
"Come come Shaurya take a seat Harish said gesturing for him to take a seat
"Whats the matter dad? Is everything alright? you don't sound your normal self ever since you came back from India Shaurya asked his father
"Yes everything is fine, I just want to tell you something very important Harish said making Shaurya listen keenly to what he had to say next
"You know when I was your age I used to admire how hardworking my father really was, how from nothing he built this huge business empire that every other businessman would dream to have, this Khanna empire that is a symbol of hard work, diligence and success all seems wonderful but... Harish paused at that moment
"But what dad? making Shaurya curious to know
"But everything you see son is not always the complete story Harish said looking through the window of his office
"What do you mean dad? Shaurya asked confused
Harish turned around "My father, your grandfather when he started this business he betrayed his own best friend to do it, his best friend Balwant they used to own a big land in an up and coming commercial area in Delhi, it was a huge land which was owned by both my father and Balwant ji, all they had was this land they dreamed of one day converting to a hotel and establish their own chain of hotels later on in the rest of India. Balwant ji trusted my father to the point that all the property documents he had asked him to keep and any legal formalities comes he should deal with it. One day when the property prices were on a record high my father without informing Balwant ji sold the entire land and took all the money with him, which he later used to establish this empire. Balwant ji passed away by the shock of betrayal by his best friend whom he trusted blindly, seeing her only son Balwant pass away the pain was too much to bear for her mother and she passed away too. Sharma family was all but left devastated the three sons of Balwant Susheel, Jeevan and Ravi with Susheel being the eldest. Ravi and Jeevan didn't take much time in demanding their share for what was left of their Delhi-6 home and that made Susheel more upset, he didn't want that but that two were adamant on selling the property and getting their share and that's what happened. Susheel and his wife were both really good chefs, both started working in different restaurants in Delhi and one day an investor from France upon tasting their dishes offered them the chef job in one of his restaurants as he needed those expert in Indian cuisine and found them to be perfect and so they both moved out here. Your grandfather although had all the wealth at this point but one thing that he was deprived of always was peace. No matter how many comforts he had in his life he always used to be lonely, sad and lost. I used to notice this but didn't had the courage to ask him. One day he called me to his study and told me everything and that night he cried his heart out, he knew Balwant was no more and his betrayal destroyed a family. He took a promise from me that I will look for them and help them in every way, this empire he told me half of it was theirs as he couldn't face them himself he told me to look for them Shaurya was shocked hearing all this. Harish continued "When I went to India to look for them I came to know that they left Delhi-6 and the house was sold and no one knew about their whereabouts, I was disappointed how I would find them but I kept looking and my recent trip I again went with some hope that there might be something that will lead me to them and it did. That house was bought by one of Susheel's friend and he told me everything about him and how he moved here and then in one day yesterday it wasn't difficult to find them Shaurya looked up at him anxious to hear, Harish looked at him and said "Susheel is no more but his wife and daughter are here and look at God's plans the people I had been looking for all this time lives right in my home Meera Sharma and Mehak Sharma. Shaurya was completely shell shocked hearing that
