Chapter 10

I came out of conference hall . His last warning echoed in my ears . I was frustrated within from all this. I straight came out of heritage and saw rahul standing near his bike with his happy face welcoming me . Seeing him I got vulnearable . I started walking towards him . All my anger , frustration , that rage that has burst my head that again I lost to him , to his will , to his cunning mind all it made me feel small today . all these felling started coming out in forms of tears that rolled down my cheek . rahuls happy face went worried by seeing my tears and as I reached him and I couldn't hold my emotions I just lean on his shoulder and started crying .he held me from my shoulder and asked worriedly " mehek kya hua , tu ro kyun rahi hai. I kept on crying . he asked me sgain I don't why I couldn't stop. He firmed his grip on my shoulders making me to face him . he asked me again what happened . I tried to calm my self . I wiped my tears from my hands , he gave me a handkerchief for wipping my tears . I took it and settled my self by that time my tears had stoped . " lets sit somewhere and talk said rahul . I asked him to wait outside for me till I get my scooty from parking .

We went to a near by food corner . I was never this close physically to rahul . but today I didn't felt any hesitation in doing so , I trust him and he understands me as a friend that's why I guess I opened up to him . I told him everything how I came to know that shaurya khanna is my new boss and how he revealed that he set up the clever plan to trap me as his employee under the four month contract claws which I can't break. Rahul heared everthing silently . " I don't know what wrong I have done to him that he is behind me plus why he always win feels like even god is also with him .working under him is jaise har din who mujhe ehsaas dilaye ga ki who kitna bada hai aukat main , aur main uske samne kuch bhi nahi . mujhe samajh nahi aa raha ki is frustration ko main kaise deal karun . I don't want to work with him, help me yaar I said to rahul .he was still worried after listening how angry I was and my unwillingness to work under him. he was silent for two three minutes when I asked him a way to get free from shaurya khanna . finally he broke his silence .

Rahul mehek , what I am, gonna suggest I know you are not gonna like it but listen to me first and then react .

Rahul seemed doubt for saying his next words . which is rare as he is quite open with me. I noded and signaled him to proceed and say what ever he wanna say

Rahul- Mehek jo bhi tune mujhe bataya na from that I can conclude only one thing that shuarya khanna se panga nahi lena chahiye .

Those words said by rahul doesn't went well inside me . even he realized that seeing my frustrated respone . I was about to say something when he spoke .

Rahul- I know you are finding me a coward . well mehek may be I am , but I am just stating the fact. He is a rich and powerful man . plus maine hamesha suna hai he see's nothing in front of his business . To please his german client he, at the end made you join his team despite your unwillingness .

Mehek- toh tu chahta hai main use dar ke beth jao aur chup chap uski zabardasti sahoon .

Rahul- aur kya karegi tu , bata you can't leave the job , you have to work for him for four months

Mehek- toh jo who chahe who hota rahe , aur hum kuch na kahen . uski manmani sahe .(I said angrily this time)

Rahul- no mehek all I am saying is to be patient. Act smart and calm .

I raised my eyebrow in response.

Rahul- what I mean is that he basically wants your presence till his german restaurant opens , which would be done by the end of four months contract. Just work as you would have been working anywhere else . don't give him any chance to extent your contract , don't sign any paper without consulting me and most impotantly ignore him . don't react to any of his doing . he is an ego jerk

Mehek- and I should be scared from his ego .

Rahul - no but sometimes ignoring such ego heads is a better way .

I was not at all convinced and seeing my miffed body movement rahul too knew that .

Rahul- all I am saying is that he is an sturborn man and its not necessary that we should answer him being sturbon . I am asking you to be calm and be patient . work there for four month . don't land yourself in any problem and move out after contract period. trust me it is a wise advice.

The counter announced our order no and rahul went to get it . I was just sitting alone and I thought about rahul word what he was saying is the best option I am left with. I have to work under him and if I kept on having fights with him that he is gonna trouble me more . ignoring him is the best way to pass these four month . I was in my thinking process when rahul snapped his fingers in front of my eyes bringing me back to present world .

Rahul- ab itna bhi mat soch . us khanne ko ignore karne ko kaha hai, lekin pizza ko ignore karna is not right .( he was back to his funny way. ) bechare pizza kya sochega, mehek ne mujhe us sadu ke liye ignore kiya ( he said in a dramatic way)

I smiled on his talk . seeing his joke magic working he continued it .

Rahul- sun mehek , ye pizza chila chila kar poch raha hai kya kasoor hai mera , mene tumhe cheese diya , capsicium diya , heaven jaisa taste diya phir bhi tum mujhe ignore kar rahi ho by thinking about that kerele se bhi kadwa AS TOLD BY YOU . not fair mehek , tujhe is pizza ki haye lage gi

I laughed hard on his antics . so I too joined him. I picked a slice of it "nahi yaar mujhe pizza ki haye nahi lene " I said and took a bite of pizza . It was yummy " hmmm " that sound came out of my mouth as I started enjoying the pizza . " khanna ho ya ganna , nahi hai pizza ignore karna I said and we both burst into laugh.

It was mid night and I was still struggling to sleep . what happened today flashback in my head " kitni khush thi main aaj subha that I am gonna start working again aur sham hote hote sari khushi furr ho gayi thanks to mr sadu I said to my self . nehal who was sleeping moved towards me and side hug me , encircling her arm around my waist . I looked at her face . I felt bad that again I hided all this about shaurya khanna from my family but if I would have told them they all would have been worried specially after knowing that I am working unwillingly under him . I remembered his face and my mind stoped at that time when he pinned me to that chair . I felt something hollow in my stomach . my heart beat raced a bit and my throat became dry remembering his proximity towards me. mehek rahul sahi hai , us se dur rehna hi sahi hai , chup chap char mahine ke liye kam kar aur is shaurya khanna raam ki ego wali gali se nikal ja I said in my head . with that thought I closed my eyes and sleep .

Two days have gone and I was still working in heritage without seeing mr sadu's face lekin meri zindagi main shanti rahe yeh us shaitan ko kaise hazaam ho jaye . on the third day he came and said he has done some necessary changes and in chef team only two changes were done I was shifted to white chillies and one person from there replaced me . well I was not surprised with this move but manoj sir ,the head chef of heritage was to whom shaurya khanna's associates told that since I was new he wanted me to learn more of international cuisine and heritage serves mainly Indian cuisine only . well I know the reality , he can bluff the world not me . this all was running in my mind when I was riding on my scooty to white chillies . I reached white chillies and I parked my scooty in parking area . I was on entrance when I saw the big hoarding with named white chillies and I started blabbering to myself . " kaisa naam hai white chillies , kabhi safed mirchi suna hai kisi ne . ajeeb aadmi ka ajeeb restaurant ka ajeeb naam . " well you are not wrong , miss . I shifted my sight which was up , looking at the hoarding to straight where I found a man in his mid twenties standing in front of me with a funky smile . " ajeeb zarror hai lekin stylish hai , jaise ki is restaurant ka malik hai he asked me . I didn't replied back , I was feeling strange with this man whom I don't know . " why you don't agree miss ... He said asking me my name . " mehek Sharma I replied . hearing my name a mischievous smile came on his face. He extended his hand and I hand shaked with him . " so you are mehek Sharma , well we were waiting for you only . I am Vicky khanna " he said while we took our hands back . " ek aur khanna " I asked him bluntly . he laughed on my question and I was embarrassed on my stupidity . " I am sorry , it was just ... he interrupted me in between " its okay , I know how my cousin is , not such a pleasing personality " . I just passed a agreeing look . " come , lets not make him more unpleased " he said and started walking . I just followed him . we entered a room . the room had a lavish dcor . well the whole white chillies had. There was no one in that cabin . " sit mehek " said Vicky showing me the chair near the table I sat down . he dialed a no on the intercom " send two date me' and one pineapple flac seed smoothie' in shaurya's cabin. So this was shaurya's room . I took a deep breath and prepared my self to meet him calmly .just then bathroom door get open and mr khanna comes out of it . he saw me and then just kept on staring. Traces of our last meeting kept both of us quiet I felt . " here you are and here is your miss Sharma said Vicky sitting on the chair near me . Shaurya noded his head to Vicky . we both didn't did any formality of wishing each other which I guess Vicky did noted . I saw a surprised look on his face . no one was saying anything , Vicky was looking at me and shaurya again and again, sensing the tension between us . I was avoiding looking at both of them and while turning my face here and there , showing Vicky that I was admiring the dcor of his cabin,I found shaurya busy on his laptop. " german next to next month aa rahe hai for further formaliies .they will come along with their chefs who along with our few chefs will finalize the menu for KHUBSURAT SPEISE . Till then miss Sharma you will work here. Learning the way my team work since now you are the part of this team said shaurya . he dialed a no on intercom " send priya in . with that he went silent . there was a knock and a waiter asked to come in , Vicky called him in and he brought three mock tails. Vicky asked him to keep it on table and gave me a drink which firstly I said no " have it mehek he said . I took the glass from him and he kept a drink on shuarya side too. He was still busy in his work . I siped the drink and it produced a noice . he instantly lifted his head and looked at me . I left the straw then and there. I felt like a child and shaurya as my teacher staring on a child for behaving ill mannered . " it happens " said Vicky comforting me .i faced him and smile I kept the straw back in tray and had my drink directly from glass . I finished it in one gulp in order to save myself from any other blunder. As I kept my empty glass back in tray . he was still staring at me . I move my face towards Vicky .cabin door open and a girl dressed in formals entered and wished shaurya . " priya , this is mehek , our new chef take her to kunal. I have already informed him . said shaurya . I got up from my chair and wished Vicky . he greeted me back with a smile and I left the room with priya .

I saw miss Sharma leaving . she did wished Vicky but not me . why is she so very quiet . I guess she has accepted her fate . well that's good . I was thinking all this being on my laptop and enjoying my drinks. When I found my cousin staring at me amusedly . " what " I asked him . " nothing . I am just surprised seeing your equation with mehek " he replied with a mock smile . " what equation I asked him shutting my laptop . " nothing , you continue your work he said while getting up . " paheliya maat bujha saaf saaf bol I said getting irritated . his phone buzzed just then and seeing his face I thought it could be shruti . he made a irritating face . " did shruti agreed for divorce I asked him with a concern . he made a pissed face " jab tune mujhe is relationship main padne se pehle bother nahi kiya , toh ab jab main ismain buri tarah fas gaya hoon , toh ab bhi bother maat kar he sadi taunting me . I remembered that time when Vicky has asked me before his marriage that weather I have any issue with his marriage with shruti as she was earlier my girlfriend and I have said no that I have no issues but after his marriage when things didn't went well . he said I could have stoped him from getting married to her . I leaned back on the chair. A feeling of guilt clouded in my head as I knowingly didn't told Vicky about shruti . one I was angry how he could marry a girl whom I have dated once plus I was more angry on mami's taunt that shruti left me as I am not rightfull heir to khanna house . due to mami I let Vicky suffer who was a growing buddy of mine he used to call me bhai but after that incident he stoped . he works under me when all his business were flop as maa asked him to but our equation was never the same . I opened my eyes and I saw tray with two empty glasses in it . one glass had lipstick mark . I stared at it . it was meheks mark . I don't know why I kept on staring at it but I did . it was coffee shade . the prints of her lips were very clear on the glass . I was about to pick the glass when Vicky again entered the room . I felt he saw me approaching towards that glass, I then and there picked my glass . I saw him getting surprised on my move . he came near . he looked at me suspiciously but I didn't responded infact I tried to over him " kya hua , wapas kyun aa gaye I asked him . " I just wanted to inform you that ISC 2 Preparation are done as you said by two week we can start the audition , channel broadcasting , venue , sponsers and judges all are done just the themes and challenges are left to decide , Rajeev said to ask you to do all that he said in one go . "we will decide that all in evening , I will call Rajeev and maushmi I replied him . he said okay and looked at that glass I was staring before leaving . he was trying to smell something which I don't want him to .

It was already four pm and I just finished my lunch and was headin g towards kitchen back again. till now I have met all the other chef of white chilles . people here were very disciplined as shaurya has said so . mahi , one of the fellow chef was given lunch break with me . we bonded well during lunch . " mahi , kunal the head chef ,I hardly found him smiling anytime I asked her . she smiled and replied " SK ke perfection ke chakar main hamesha bechara constipated rehta hai isliye uska chehra hamesha aesa hi lagta hai " I laughed on that comment of her . as we entered the kitchen I found a worried priya looking for me " priya main yaha hoon , kya hua I asked her . she got more panic seeing me " tum yahan kya kar rahi ho , jaldi chalo warna hum dono hi nahi rahenge " she said while she hoded my arm and literally dragged me from kitchen . now I was worried " par hua kya hai" I asked her . "Shaurya sir, ne bulaya hai pichle fifteen minute se , aur tum ab mili ho she replied taking me like a small kid towards his room . ye shaurya khanna ka staff bhi iski tarah hi pagal hai I thought . we reached his cabin and priya opened the door and pushed me inside . I fumbled a bit but balanced my self . I saw a standing shaurya who was on a video conference on his laptop . he saw me and mocking a smile and said " here comes mehek sir , mehek come . mr Abelard wants to see you come " he said with a faking politeness . I went near him and looked on the screen . mr Abelard big face flashed on the screen " finally , you are here he said in his german accent " I am so happy that you joined shaurya and would be now working with us in KHUBSURAT SPEISE he said . I just smiled " say something mehek SK whispered to me . I looked at him . he ordered me with his eyes. I was annoyed I felt the same when chachi sometimes ask me to talk to some of her relatives whom I don't know at all. " how are you sir " I asked mr Abelard . " I am good . now more good seeing you with shaurya " he replied and that statement felt weird . I didn't said anything back and shaurya took over then " sir we are waiting for your arrival . most of the preparation is done even the interior deco is also started by the time you will come only ten percent work would be left for us to start our project. " great shaurya . that's why I have taken you as my partner . you have done most of the work . well I take a leave now . see you guys again . bye you two . he said ending the convo . " by sir we both replied with a fake smile and he shut the laptop screen . we both looked at each other we were standing next to each other , our shoulders one inch apart . I moved side first . he looked at the distance between us . " can I leave " I asked him . " next time I summon you , you better be fast he warned me . I looked back into his eyes . wanted to give him back nicely but I followed rahuls advice to ignore him . I left his cabin without uttering a word .
