Part 3 :

Mehak hired an auto and went home. Throughout the journey, the incident played in her mind. Was she so naive to not understand what was going on in his mind. How could she make a fool of herself? She couldn't control her tears anymore.

She reached home and went straight t her room. She closed her door and leaned behind it. She couldn't stop herself from crying anymore.

Kaanta chachi was worried for Mehak. She went to her room and knocked on her door.

Kaanta chachi: Mehak wht happened beta? Please open the door.

Mehak couldn't let her family know about all that happened today, so she wiped her tears and opened the door with a smile.

Mehak : No chachi everything is fine. Bas I m very tired. I want to sleep

Kaanta chachi: Beta bina khaana khaaye...its your birthday today. Sab theek hai na?

Chachi was really worried now.

Mehak spoke: No chachi. I am seriously fine. N I have had my dinner at the hotel. Sorry I didn't inform you but they all forced me so I had no option.

Kaanta chachi: Tune khaana kha liya toh theek hai...Tere hotel waalo ne party rakhi thi tere liye?

Mehak : Haan chachi bahut acchi party rakhi thi...It was my best birthday!!! May I go to sleep now?

Kaanta chachi: Ha thik hai beta..Good night. Tu rest kar meri bacchi.

Kaanta chachi wished her good night and went to her room.

Mehak closed the door and started crying again.

Mehak: Why did you do this Shaurya? I slapped you coz you were wrong.. U insulted my family. Tumhe tumhara galti ke liye sazza di thi. But tumne kya kiya? I forgave you. I never thought about that incident again. Maine dil se tumhe maaf kiya tha aur dil se tumhe pyaar kiya. Why did you do this to me? Why? I hate you Shaurya...really hate you.

It was all a plan for him and the plan worked really well. He wanted to make Mehak fall in love with her, humiliate her and then leave her all alone to her fate.

Mehak : Maine kabhi tumhara bura nahi chaha Shaurya... Kyun... I loved you...bas yahi galti ho gayi. Why? Why?

Mehak kept on asking this question to herself throughout the night. She couldn't sleep. She was tired of thinking about him and his deceit. It was too much for her to take. Shaurya had taken his revenge and he had accomplished what he wanted. There was no point in thinking about all that. She needed to move on in her life. She had her family who cared for her, loved her,adored her. She wouldn't let someone like Shaurya ruin the happiness of her family. It was 5 in the morning now. She wiped her tears and went to the washroom to freshen up.

Mehak: Now is a new day for me. I have to be strong for my family. Shaurya got what he wanted but I have to move on. I have to stop thinking about him. I cannot leave this job as I need the money for my family. I won't resign Shaurya Khanna. I am not weak. I will continue with my work no matter what. U r my past and you will always be the ugliest chapter of my life.

Mehak dressed up and went to her hotel. She had decided to ignore Shaurya. The best way to deal with him was to ignore him. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of winning.

Mehak thought: You have to be strong Mehak. Shaurya ko jo karna tha woh usne kiya. Fine he played with my feelings. I m sure ab who mujhe pareshaan nahi karega n even if he does, I will not answer him back. Na hi main roungi . Yeh job mere liye bahut important hai. My family has so many expectations from me. I cannot let them down for Shaurya. Apni life main use importance dekar maine bahut badi galti kar di but not anymore. Maata Rani meri madat karna.

Seeking Maata Rani's blessings, she entered the hotel premises. She walked towards the kitchen greeting everyone with a smile. She was pretending to be normal but the truth was that she was completely shattered after what Shaurya had done to her. She couldn't let her family members or her colleagues know about her inner turmoil.

She wore her apron and started working on the recipes. She was asked to make Eggplant salad. She started cutting the veggies in small pieces. While she was cutting chilies for the salad, she couldn't stop herself from thinking about Shaurya's deceit. The last night's event started playing in her mind. Her eyes brimmed with tears. A drop of tear was about to fall when someone wiped it with his finger. She looked to who it was and was surprised to see Shaurya.

Shaurya had the drop of tear on his finger and said smirkingly: Didn't you cry enough last night Ms Sharma? I thought kal ka quota pura ho gaya hoga. But I don't blame you. Chot bhi badi lagi hai toh rona bhi bada hi hoga...Hai na??

Mehak looked at him in pain. She wiped her tears and spoke with confidence.

Mehak : Nahi aankh mein kuch chala gaya tha.

Shaurya: Ahh...typical answer when a girl cries. Come on Ms Sharma, think of something new. Yeh ghise phitte purane excuses mat do.

Mehak knew that Shaurya was doing all this to irritate her. He wanted her to react but she wasn't going to let him play with her now. He would do whatever he wanted to. She was going to act strong. She ignored him and concentrated cutting the chilies.

But Shaurya wasn't ready to give in so easily.

Shaurya: Ms Sharma aapka birthday kaise tha kal? I hope you would have got some really good "big" surprise. Would you like to share?

The moment she heard him say that she couldn't control her tears. Lucky her, she had her back facing towards him. She wiped her tears and spoke: Good Sir. It was nice. I enjoyed my day!

Shaurya : Ahh now you are talking...So batao aur kya hua? Surprise accha laga.

Mehak: Sir, I have to get this salad ready in 20 minutes, so will u please excuse me so that I can concentrate on my work?

Shaurya was angry with the stubborn attitude of Mehak. Before he could say anything, Rajeev entered the kitchen.

Rajeev: Mehak, what is this? Please work faster. We cannot keep the guests waiting. And Shaurya what are you doing in the kitchen?

Shaurya was caught off-guard.

Shaurya angrily: Isn't this my Kitchen Rajeev? I can come and go anywhere that I like!

Rajeev: Fine Shaurya, its your kitchen. I was just asking. Chill! I hope you remember we have a meeting with Mr. Walia. He will arrive here in half an hour. I was thinking to go over the presentation once again.

Shaurya had one look at Mehak and left the kitchen.

Rajeev: Yeh isse kya ho gaya? Iska kuch samajh nahi aata.

Rajeev smiled at Mehak and went behind Shaurya. After, they had left, Mehak thanked her Maata Rani and continued working on the salad. It wasn't so difficult. She was happy with herself now. She didn't break down in front of Shaurya. It brought her immense peace when she saw Shaurya fuming in anger with her reaction. So this is what she had to do henceforth.

Mehak: Bas concentrate on your work and ignore him. Remember the new mantra: IGNORE AND DO NOT REACT.

She kept on repeating this to herself and continued working on the salad.

It was 8'0 clock now and her shift was over. She packed her bag and started leaving for home. While she was messaging Kaanta chachi, Kunal held her hand and spoke: Hey , Mehak. I had been calling you for so long but you didn't respond. Sab theek?

Mehak : Oh I m sorry. I was messaging chachi. Sorry maine suna nahi. Kaho?

Kunal: Its fine. Its just that we didn't get time to talk to each other at all since morning with Khadoos Kumar hovering around the kitchen all the time.

Mehak: Hmm...Did you have to say anything?

Kunal: Nope nothing important...Chalo lets go out for coffee? I ll drop you home then. What say?

Mehak was really not in the mood to go anywhere.

Mehak: I am sorry Kunal, I am really tired. I guess I ll head home. Everyone is waiting for me at home. Sorry.

Kunal was disappointed. Everyone at the hotel knew that Kunal had a soft spot for Mehak which she was oblivious to. She always considered Kunal as her friend and never encouraged any of his advances.

Kunal made a puppy face and said: Mehak please say yes.

Mehak felt bad but she really didn't want to go.

Mehak: Maybe some other time. Now I gotta go. Its really late.

Kunal: Fine next time no excuses. It's ok this time. Bye princess. He said so and left from there.

Mehak hated it when he would use such cheesy lines but she always ignored him. She didn't want to spoil the good equation she had with him.

Mehak: Bye.

The moment she turned around she collided with something hard. She was about to fall when someone held her by the arm.

Shaurya shouted: Easy Ms. Sharma.. Looks like you have "moved on" really very fast.

Mehak understood what he was talking about. He had heard hers and Kunal's conversation.

Mehak : Hmm..

Shaurya was getting frustrated with her behavior now. He didn't know why but he wanted her to react. He wanted to see her cry, shout or accuse him of his deceit but she did nothing. It's as if it didn't matter to her at all. But Shaurya wouldn't let her go that easily.

Shaurya sarcastically: So where is he taking you for coffee? Why don't you try Sainik Farms? A beautiful canopy with wine...

She didn't wait for Shaurya to finish his lines. She just left form there and started looking for an auto. Shaurya was angry with her attitude.

Shaurya: What the hell? How dare you ignore me!!!

Before he could go behind her, Mehak sat in the auto and left.

The moment Mehak sat in the auto, she couldn't control her tears and started crying.

Mehak thought: Stop it Mehak..Don't cry. You did great. Bas aise hi use avoid karte rehna. Itna difficult nahi hoga.

Shaurya was really angry now. He couldn't understand her. The Mehak that he knew would react at his smallest insult was now ignoring him as if his words didn't matter to him. He headed straight to his home. Once he reached home, he threw his phone on the bed and removed his waist coat.

Shaurya: I bloody hate her. What does she think of herself? I won..I humiliated her, played with her feelings. I wanted to see you cry Ms Sharma and I want you to cry for the rest of your life... will always hate you. Ahhh...with he punched his fist on the wall.
