I did a double take when I heard that "she was fat" first time on the show. She is not even overweight.

If there really wanted to show a heavier female lead, they should have selected one according. Portraying someone normal as fat sends wrong message and just looks ridiculous.

I agree and disagree. I guess in direct translation, it is 'fat' but the more apt word is 'chubby.' Now there is nothing wrong with Mehek, but the issues with her marriage proposals and family and neighborhood aunties comes across as very real.

Is her weight a normal, healthy weight? Yes. But combined with the fact that she is not very ambitious or career oriented, as well as perhaps being 'homely,' it does result in proposal rejections.

This is why her chachi tells her to lose a bit of weight and/or be a bit more stylish. She is not dowdy and is very good looking, and if she had a good job or career, her 'weight' wouldn't be an issue. But in the marriage market I think the reactions do come off as realistic.

That being said, I agree Shaurya should not and would not have said what he did about her weight. It was uncalled for. I think that was was unneeded and exaggerated.

Also, if she were from a better social standing, her weight wouldn't even be an issue among prospects (but with that is money and if course different style and fashion).

@KK - I wouldn't mind if everyone said she was fat/chubby - even Shaurya - if she actually was. The actress playing Mehak wouldn't even qualify as "healthy" which in our circles translates into slightly overweight or what is called "khaate pitey ghar ki ladki".

This dialogue is repeated often enough to make the audience think/believe that Mahek is overweight and that is an issue for her. This is why they even made Shaurya say it.

If CVs really wanted a chubby lead, they should have selected a chubby actress. Don't create an issue where it does not exist. They could have focused on her "dowdiness" or "homeliness"

right... but I dont think she will win easily, the path of her being winner of indias super cook is full with so many difficulties and again its a television, expect liars and cheaters like Pammi and chef kunal in the competition too.
also shauryas misunderstandings will be continue for some more time according to me.

Pammi Aunty... I would love to see that happen and also expressions of her sis when Joker Ajay will do as his mamma says 😛

As you mentioned in your post...it will also has it dose of cheaters and liars like Pammi and Chef Kunal...! To spice up the competition...we can even expect some bimbo types and mean girls...who on one hand will try to flirt with Shaurya to impress him...and on the other hand, will make fun of Mehek background and dressing code...calling her "behenji" and middle-class like Shaurya...!

I hope..we'll have some male participants too...! One of them will be smitten and get attracted by Mehek innocent look...and ends up, making Shaurya feels jealous...! 😉
