From Hamza Ali Abbasi's Pyaare Afzal to Fawad Khan'sDaastan, India continues to fall in love with Pakistani dramas. The latest serial to make it across border is Mera Naam Yousaf Hai.

According to BizAsia, the drama will be aired on Star Plus next month. This is the first time Star Plus will broadcast a Pakistani drama. Indian channels like Colors, Rishtey, ZEE TV (which launched Zindagi TV to exclusively air all Pakistani dramas) have already been airing our dramas because of their high demand across the border.

Upon hearing the news Maya Ali took to Twitter to express her excitement:

Mera Naam Yousaf Hai is a romantic drama loosely based on the story of Yusuf and Zulaikha by Jami in his book Haft Awrang. It features Maya Ali and Imran Abbas as the lead actors.

The story revolves around two people (Yousaf and Zulaikha) who meet on a train and fall in love. What follow are a turn of events which test the love of the couple " Yusaf crosses all barriers to prove his worth to Zulaikha and her father when he finds out that he wishes to marry her off to his nephew, Imran.

Ok this is great news
First. I thought it to be star plus India but then thought its too good to b true

But at least star plus has taken the initiative for the first time to air pak dramas

This itself is a great news

Both Imran n Maya tweeted about it that how both are overwhelmed by the news and so am I

I really wish we get to see star plus India airing pak content as well

Apart from Zee ZINDAGI colors rishtey also air pak shows now in India...they hv already aired asmano pe likha and ranjish hi sahi in rishtey

Now I hope star plus in India also airs pak content among its other Indian soaps ...

Star Plus is a big deal actually. Zindagi or Rishtey dont have much viewers compared to SP. But lets see which slot it will give...maybe Sunday late night slot which SP has been trying some hatke shows for a while.

Uh-oh! Its not being aired in Star Plus INDIA but in Star Plus UK.
Mera Naam Yousuf Hai - the first Pakistani drama to be aired on Star Plus
Despite border tensions and the whole Phantom furor, Indians can't stop loving Pakistani dramas. After Humsafar and Pyaray Afzal that had Indian fans going gaga, it's time for Imran Abbas' Mera Naam Yousuf Hai to take Indian television by storm. But unlike all other serials that were aired on Zee Zindagi, a collaborative initiative by Zee Entertainment, MNYH will be airing on Star Plus.

According to Biz Asia, Star Plus UK will broadcast the Mehreen Jabbar directorial which is a first of its kind offering by the Star TV group who have never aired Pakistani serials before unlike competitors. The news was later confirmed by its lead actress on Twitter. "Overwhelmed! #firsttimeever #starplusuk #meranaamyousufhai #imranabbas #greatsoul #bestdirector..." she wrote.

The drama, also starring Waseem Abbas and Hina Bayat, will start airing from October 18th as a weekly offering instead of a daily one. Mera Naam Yousuf Hai is said to be loosely based on the story of Yusuf and Zulaikha by Jami in his book Haft Awrang and revolves around the two protagonists falling in love with each other while on a train and the obstacles they face thereafter.
