Dawaat E Ishq and Khoobsrat will compete this week and will end the heroine dominated season as the last few weeks have seen films where the heroine has been the main face of the film. All of the films may not have been heroine centric but it was the actresses providing the face value from Rani Mukherjee in Mardaani to Priyanka Chopra in Mary Kom to Deepika Padukone in Finding Fanny and this week will see a clash between a Sonam Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer.
The results have not been impressive so far with only Mardaani having some appreciation but a very low opening. Mary Kom got a fair start but could not consolidate while Finding Fanny was worse of the lot. Daawat E Ishq and Khoobsurat will be hoping to do better
Daawat E Ishq should lead as it has more universal appeal than Khoobsurat which seems mainly for the premium multiplexes. The Khoobsorat in 1980 which this film is based did well in 4-5 cities but as the budget was low that was enough for recovery. So remaking a film that did not work too well initially with a weaker cast may not be the best idea. Daawat E Ishq could have some potential though will be on word of mouth and remains to be seen if it can become that elusive hit film which is evaded the industry since Singham Returns.
