HUMSAFAR WATCH PARTY : Episode 9

Posted by Sadaf On January - 8 - 2014

Having been on a break I thought I would start out by watching a little of episode 8 to get my bearings , of course I ended up watching all of it and like any addict went on to the next hit without a break . If I compare both episodes, eight seems to be the sharper one. Could it be my own feeling of a slow train wreck approaching that made me feel episode nine could have done with some editing? Is it my intense dislike of Khizar and his creeping, slithering way into Khirad and Asher's life that I dislike or is it his performance? I cannot say I was particularly impressed the first time I saw Noor Hassan and the second time did not change my mind. His dialogue delivery seemed forced, even rushed and my eyes hurt after seeing those skin tight acid wash jeans. In fact the only time I liked him was his screen time with Sara. His voice over confessions of love anis disappointment at her indifference were more believable. I actually enjoyed The scene where she snubs him at the artlly and then condescendingly accepts his gift. It seems as though Sara had the measure of him, unlike Khirad.

I could understand Khirad helping him but what I couldn't understand was how she allowed him between her and Asher. With each passing scene it is obvious that Asher is becoming increasingly irritated by Khizar's fawning over his wife. Some of Khirad's uncomfortable looks, her hesitation at accepting a lift from him show she is aware of it too. My own theory is that she never considered Khizar important enough to think Asher might feel threatened or insecure. Each time they have a spat, the underlying reason is Khizar but never mentioned. I have to say I love the whole dinner table scene: beautifully done. Fawad Khan was the star of this episode. The whole headache scene and Khirad massaging his head till she fell asleep had me smiling. Again Asher feels reassured; she is so caring she must love him.

This is where the age difference between Asher and Khirad plays out and works to Khizar and Farida's advantage. That epic dancing in the rain scene has a purpose. I could feel the atmosphere change slightly when Khirad calls Asher a Budhi rooh, though they walk off to have some tea happily enough. I should really devote an entire post to that rain scene, from beginning to end it was perfect, so simple and yet so intimate. Khirad's clothes, the matching colors Asher wears: they seem to be in perfect harmony. There is no doubt that Asher is deeply in love with his young wife and really cannot help being very possessive of her. A fact that nave Khirad never picks up on.

The last scene I must mention is what I like to call Khirad and her green suite. As usual Mahirah looks simply goddess like in that beautiful green dress and Asher is the besotted husband to the hilt, not even allowing her to ride home with the driver. The he sees her standing next to Khizar as she enters the party, who is coincidentally (?) also, dressed in green and his entire attitude changes 180degrees.Within the space of ten minutes or else love changes to anger and jealousy. We know in the next episode he won't pick her up from the party and just as Asher and Khirad are confused and sad so is the viewer : I kept saying along with the rest of the country : "please don't let this happen "

absolutely. I'm glad she reviewed it again. I didn't like the original reviews on this site when HS was on air. It seemed impatient and nit picking.
There is one person named Roh who always replied to all Sadaf's reviews on Humsafar. From what I gather, she is Indian. Her name is Roh. I just love reading her points of view too.
With reviews of Neerja Unni on Rangmunch TV, Sadaf on Drama Pakistani and replies from Roh to Sadaf's reviews, it made Humsafar an even more beautiful experience for me.

Yes trying to post them episode by episode 😊 The original people who reviewed HS were overly critical. Many of them were stuck on seeing Sanam Baloch as Khirad to give a fair chance to liking Mahira. Not saying Mahira was brilliant or anything, but hse wasn't as bad as she was criticized to be. Sadaf's reviews are great, and the comments by the same bunch, whether its Roh, shahzch, indepgal, mona, they're always great to read. They discuss Humsafar in so much detail, it gave me a new perspective to the dramas as well.

same here. I'd read from all the people you mentioned and suddenly my eyes would open and I'd think "hey! I never thought of it like that! that makes so much sense!"
I'm not a big Mahira fan, but she was just too good as Khirad. I think one understands her acting and the way she carried herself through only once the whole show is seen and is literally culminated. If you look at it piecemeal, one will criticize it, because it doens't give the full picture like that.
A classic example of "abhi picture baaki hain" 😊

Digressing for a second. I'm loving Mahira in Sadqay Tumhare" its probably her answer to harsh criticism.

back to Humsafar. Getting ready for tonight's episode, which surprisingly, became one of my most watched ones, only for the brilliant way the emotions were developed.

Your so on point with how one understands her acting when the whole show is done, you see all the shades to her character and I believe she did justice to them, especially if I were to compare it to the novel. If I were to assess an overall performance I personally prefer Khirad to Falak for Mahira.
And yes, loving Mahira in Sadqay. it's her first show in years, and with a new director. She's made Shano so likeable and endearing.
Episode 10 is my guilty pressure btw 😆 I love Fawad's portrayal as the cold Asher..

Payal,here for you.
Lol,you know. Im not much of a fan for just romance, without some dark influence(numm for example) or a good moral(zgh for example),but nevertheless I like watching Humsafar just for the romance. Its shocking 😆 I sound like a hopeless romantic, which Im not 😆 But AK scenes are very very, well done. Sarmad is some great director, man.

And yes I havent said anything about Mahira have I? I had seen Shehr-E-Zaat first,so Khirad is quite opposite to what I had seen there. I think the role here suits her. She has that fragile kind of aura. So yeah. Cant say much about the acting, since its restricted to romance right now. So incase of eyelocks and blushes, full points.

I saw some glimpses of a scene which will be later in the show I guess, she is standing in front of a cupboard and crying. That scene looks quite good, and challenging for an actor. Let me see whats in store for me in future.

Btw who handled the camera in HS? The guy deserves a special mention. EVery little expression has been captured so well.

Mahira is pretty btw. But she has big lips na? Its not a bad thing, but thats the first thing I noticed about her face. Angelina Jolie to has big lips and people adore them, dont they?Mahira has a round face too,and teh combination of the lips and the round face makes her body's frame look a bit bigger than it actually is,in real, she has a smaller frame.

She has a really pretty face. And she looks good with FK onscreen. what colour are her eyes btw?

Oh and yes, yesterday's precap. I see some arched eyebrows and angry looks from Asher. Wohooo, was so eagerly waiting. Hahaha.

Yaar, its my dil se ichcha to see him in a negative role. He'd be so good. Please let the MJ news be true.
