Namaste,

Just wanted to start list of ALL the confusions, contradictions, in"correct" references etc.

1. Colonel Batra was initially Colonel Vikram Batra who was later called Colonel Pushpendra Batra

2. Major Param and Barkha Shergill's daughter was initially Trisha, mysteriously became Saumya

3. Major confusion in the Ranks of the 3 Leads.

  • Karan Shergill was called Captain Karan Shergill but that did not match the Insignia.
  • Faizuddin Siddiqui and Sanjana Dubey's ranks are inconsistent to their presumed experience and insignia.

4. Confusion around timelines.

  • Param's plaque in the Academy toggles between 2000 and 2019 leading to comfusion the age of the characters in the current timeline.

Should you notice anymore of such confusions, Contradictions, inconsistencies and clarifications, please feel to jot them down here!

They are called special agent in montage I remember. What's a special agent in army anyways? Also karan was supposedly in field (similar to Faizi I guess? Sanju idk) how he shifted to training and why? A trainer is different than an officer on duty.

Special agent in indian army shows DIA defence intelligence agency details. As per wiki.

Before the creation of the Defence Intelligence Agency, the military intelligence capability of India's armed forces was limited to Field Intelligence Units (FIU) and separate intelligence arms of the services.[2] These distinct services were not able to effectively coordinate intelligence operations and sharing of information.[3] The armed forces also heavily relied on civilian intelligence agencies such as the Research and Analysis Wing and the Intelligence Bureau.[2] With wide-ranging resources and functions, the DIA will be superior to and coordinate the Directorate of Military Intelligence, Directorate of Air Intelligence and the Directorate of Naval Intelligence.[3]

Every Arms / Services have a few mandatory courses for their officers . For Infantry these are Young Officers Course , Commando Course and Battalion Support Weapons Course . Apart from these Infantry Junior Command Course is mandatory for all ( for other Arms/ Services too if one wants to Qualify for Staff College ) .

Apart from the above , as per vacancies allotted by Army HQ , Command HQ allot vacancies to units / Formation to detail officers / JCOs / Other Ranks to attend courses at Various Army Schools of Instructions .

The schools grade the students in each course as Distinction( above 80% ), Alpha ( above70 %)

Bravo ( above 60%) , Charlie ( above 50%) , Echo ( above 40%) and Fail . Apart from these marks certain student are given Instructional grading . These students will get grading of AI and in some cases it will also be BI . A Distinction grading is deemed to be an instructional grading .

Such students then may get posted to these Class A training Establishments ( Schools of Instructions) or Class B Training Establishments ( Regimental Training Centres ) as Instructors, when turnover is required .

For posting as Instructors to NDA / IMA / OTA in the rank of Captain / Major one requires a minimum B grading in YO/JC course and a record of Above Average Annual Confidential Reports .

Army instructor are made by doing a specialization in specific field.if you want to be a weapon training intructor you shoul be specialize in weapon training

The show is still in the beginning phase so there will be changes and improvisations as they move forward. It's pretty common.

And regarding the army titles, it's a fictional show, and they seem to be trying to keep it that way.

Re. Param's plaque: The timeline was the one thing I had a bit of issue with too, because it was toeing into plot-hole territory (not really but accept this for my brain cannot seem to come up with the actual word), but a friend of mine said that the 2000 one could be his graduation plaque and the other one when he martyred. There's probably only one plaque but seeing it like that helps me focus on the actual story😊

Sure. Calling it Fictional is totally fine, only, If they can just:

1. Put that as a disclaimer of ranks and insignia bearing no association to the Army.

2. Have consistency in the uniform worn by the characters.

🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess we have ALL, for the sake of sanity accepted the 2019 plaque as being the year of martyrdom.

I think they took creative liberty with civilians coming to learn, but yeah could have been realistic about it.

I believe there are parallel line of security forces where civilians are employed as honorary members.

Remember M S Dhoni holds an honorary position of Lieutenant Colonel?

Um...they have. Please go check that. The disclaimer in the beginning of most shows on tv include basically everything. They don't have to put a separate one for this.

And which production house would be idiotic enough to use actual ranks and insignia in the present (or any) political climate? The backlash they would receive would be massive if they made even a tiny mistake. Show shuru hone se pehle hi bandh ho jaayega.

Well, sadly, they don't. The disclaimer is a standard disclaimer. (Again, I am not a lawyer but just going by textual content, I believe it is not enough to say it is a work of fiction).

When someone refers to general public as civilians, what does that make him? If he is so referred, then a line in disclaimer to state that this has no reference to the forces, in my opinion is imperative. Well in that case, they have used the ranks and insignia, haven't they?

If there is a disparity observed or any resemblance to any working organization, every individual/group is justified in expressing it in a civil manner which they have, in the past and will continue to regardless of any climate.

The good part is, it got so many of us reading up and increasing our knowledge, possibly reverence and awareness of our Security Forces. What say?

Regardless, getting back to the topic, this still does not discount the fact the Faizi's uniform was different on 2 different occasions 🙂.

The disclaimer is standard because it includes everything. They can literally say or do anything and they wouldn't have to be responsible for the audience's reaction.

Being in the army or any security force is a respectable profession because of the selflessness and responsibility but it's a profession nonetheless. Like any profession, they have rules, perks and responsibilities. Not to say, what our security forces do is any less heroic or selfless because it isn't, but in layman's terms, it is a job. So, I personally don't see a reason for them to put out a separate disclaimer, but it's okay if others do.

You're absolutely right about the knowledge bit.

Re. Faizi: ooh when?

As might've been obvious, I haven't paid too much attention to the uniform differences because I don't expect them to get it right, and if they are important to the story, they would state it explicitly. But I do like spotting bloopers. It helps break the barrier between fiction and reality for a bit and reminds me that there's a whole crew helping make the show what it is.
