The reason for the reaction that we are observing is given the fact that the show promised a difference from the normal. Honestly, the audience likes a decently researched work and accurate depiction.

Thank you for bringing this topic up. It was running on a lot of our minds but i guess we did not highlight it.

PVC Capt. Vikram Batra addresses Capt. Sanjeev Jamwal as "Sir" even though they are the same rank because he was the CO and promoted a few months earlier. Although later Capt. Sanjeev himself asked Capt. Batra to address him on a nickname basis. But in front of seniors its usually "Sir".

On the DD show "Aarohan", the Lt. Shammi addressed their COs Lt. Rohit as sir even though they were the same rank.

Bold: Exactly ,it's not that you are same age so U 'll call anyone 'tum' or by his/her name even if he/she is your instructor/trainer ..

in work place people consider few things like Designation, serving period /joining date,age etc.
