Chapter 13
Dev gently put her on the bed; she shoved his hands away angrily.
"Come on, Radhika, don't be like that, you know I'm doing this for you!"
"And I'm also doing this for you!" she snapped.
He sighed and sat beside her.
"Did I ever told you, how I lost my mother?" He asked suddenly.
Radhika frowned at the change of subject, and the one which is very touchy for Dev. She never asked him about his mother's loss but she was curious yet she never brought up the subject because it always gave him pain. She glanced at him; he wasn't looking at her rather looking down at the floor.
"No" she answered softly.
"I never tell this incident to anyone because whenever I think of it, it gives me pain so I refrain talking about it.." He said still keeping his gaze on the floor.
"What happened to your mother?" she asked carefully.
"She..was murdered, I can't forget that day when.." he stopped, swallowing the lump propped up in his throat and continued " when I saw her covered with blood..she was stabbed five times..can you believe it, how cruel someone can be..she never harmed..anyone yet she faced death like this.."
Tears spilled from his eyes, his voice turned hoarse, he rubbed the tears.
"I..I never knew..why she died like this..why she..was killed..who killed her..All I can think..of was I wasn't able..to save her..she was the only..woman I loved..she died like that, I didn't do anything.." then he looked up at her and took her hand in his own "after my mother..you are the woman I love..I..wasn't able to save her..but I can save you..i don't want to lose you the..same way I lost my mother..let me save you, please?"
She wrapped her arms against his neck and replied in a crying tone
"I'm sorry, I didn't..knew you..Oh, I shouldn't have hurt you more..I will not stop you..I just didn't want to see you hurt.."
"Neither I want to see you hurt, my Mysty.." He replied.
She looked back at him and rubbed his tears, while he did the same with her.
"Sorry to interrupt such a lovely emotional moment, but can't help myself so I had to do.." Both heard Birju's voice from the door.
"What happened?" Dev asked.
"I'll be leaving to Radhika's house, if you guys want something let me know.."
"I don't want anything, you want something, luv?" Dev asked from Radhika.
"I don't but why are you going to my house?"
"Raj would be waiting for you there, before he panic at your absence, Birju will tell him about you.."
"That would be fine..but how will you know if it's Raj or not, I mean Birju haven't seen him before and Raj wouldn't meet me if he sees anyone else in the house.."
"If he sees us, we would be hiding in the house, if anyone who would enter the house it would be only Raj since he knows where the duplicate key would be plus he doesn't know what happened last night, so if I am right, he would definitely go inside the house and then he will panic and then Birju will tell him about you.."
"It's nice idea but it would be better if I come along--"
"NO!!" both Birju and Dev shouted.
"It was a suggestion since I know Raj and why will Raj believe you?"
"He will, he got no other choice than to believe us..don't worry, luv, Birju can handle this, your safety is much more important for us.."
"Ok, do what you think is right..as if I can change both of your minds.." she grumbled.
Both grinned at her statement.
"So I'll be leaving, take care of yourselves.." Birju said and went out.

"Master, I didn't knew Arjun was there to rape her!" Purab defended.
"then what do you think you were doing with him, when you don't even know his intentions.." he said furiously.
"He never told me anything..I ask him, he shrugs me off, he said to kill that man who is with her which I did, or I tried to but I didn't know he wasn't alone, he was with someone else, his friend or whoever he was helped him, before they could get a hand on me, I escaped."
"you know what you guys did? You lost the only chance we got to have that girl..Now we've lost it again..she will be more protected now, I guess you don't know where she is hiding now.."
"I..don't.." he replied uneasily.

"Stop it, Dev!" Radhika said half pleading half moaning. She asked Dev to teach her how to paint since she was bored in the house, which turned out to be her mistake, well good mistake when she is actually enjoying his soft lip rubbing against the nape of her neck. She sat on his lap, his one hand making soft intimate movements on her stomach, his other hand gripping her hand which was holding the brush. She went numb under his touch, went oblivious to everything except his lips and touch. She tilted her head, giving his lips more space to feel.
She heard his groan loud enough; he suddenly stood up while she lost her balance. Before she could hit the ground, Dev held her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, did I hurt you?" he asked concernedly.
Her mind was still clouded with the pleasure of his touch, so she didn't notice her almost fall.
"What?..Oh, no..you didn't.." she said and blushed hard.
"I shouldn't..I'm sorry, damn I need a shower! A cold one!" he said frustratingly and went out of the room. Radhika smiled and then chuckled at his frustration.

She couldn't complete her sentence without turning red. Dev burst into laughter while seeing her uneasiness on the topic.
"Just look at your face, Mysty, it's more red than a tomato.." he said teasingly.
Radhika narrowed her eyes, and threw the pillow on him.
"It's you men who always feel comfortable discussing this topic but we women finds it hard.."
"you feel uncomfortable while discussing the topic, but you don't feel uncomfortable while practicing the topic?"
She gasped and threw another pillow on him while he laughed.
"YOU! don't talk to me.." she shouted and crossed her arms.
Dev stood up from sofa and approached the bed where she was sitting. He held her chin gently, she shoved his hand and looked away from him.
He grinned and said "you look more lovely when you get angry.."
"that's why you make me angry?" she asked.
"sometimes, can you blame me, when you look so cute and lovely.." he said while pulling her cheeks.
She made a face and slapped his hand then replied "don't worry one day I will make you angry.."
He chuckled and spoke "you know I barely get angry, so how will do it?"
She smirked mischievously and replied "why will I tell you?"
He narrowed his eyes, seriously asked "what is cooking in your head?"
This time she pulled his cheek and sweetly replied "you will know it soon.."

"Who's there?" Dev asked as he held the door knob. Both heard the door bell and approached the door. Radhika was just behind him, clutching his shirt, fearing that they don't get discovered again. Although Dev assured her that nobody knows this place, so nobody will know that they are hiding here, still she is scared since she knows her step father very well.
"It's me Birju.."
Both gave a relief sigh, Dev opened the door while Radhika unclenched her grip on his shirt.
"Raj!" Radhika cheered and hugged him while Dev froze seeing the face of Raj.
"Are you fine? I was so scared..I thought I nearly lost you..Thank god, you're safe! You are fine, are you?" He asked while hugging her tightly.
She released her hug and looked up at him and replied "you can see, I'm perfectly fine, Dev rescued me on time! I was also scared, I lost hope but then Dev.." She glanced at Dev, who was still staring at Raj.
She gave him a baffled look, slightly touched his shoulder.
He jerked and suddenly shouted angrily "Why Dad? You knew all along! You were protecting her, why you never tell me about her? Why you kept it secret from me? I told you about her, you acted as if you don't know or don't want to know about her? Why?"
"Because I was protecting you and her!" he shouted back.
It was Radhika who stood still now, she glanced at Dev then looked back at Raj. No wonder she always found Dev familiar, because he is son of Raj. But how is it possible, Dev told her he was son of Sooraj Purohit. Raj lied to her about his name, he never told her the truth of his identity, she never even questioned about his real identity only the reason why he was helping her. She gasped remembering his reason for helping her, that can't be possible, it was Dev's mother who was killed that night because she was protecting her from her step father.
She felt dizzy and nearly fell on the ground, Birju was the first to hold her, he wrapped his arm on her shoulder.
"Radhika!" Dev shouted and took her in his arms then he lifted her and laid her on the bed.
"I'm sorry, Dev.." those words escaped her mouth before she lost her conscious.
Dev frowned and said aloud "what is she sorry for??"
"I knew she would feel guilty, now her guilty worsened--" Raj said.
"what do you mean, Dad?" Dev asked.
"You wanted to know why I was protecting her, and I never told you about it..I will tell you now the complete truth..it happened when you're mother was alive, Radhika must have told you about her past, did she?"
"yes, she did, she told me about her mother and her step father, how her mother tried to escape but her step father found her.."
"she was found in this village..you wanted to know why your mother was killed..it was because she was protecting Radhika, her mother came here with Radhika and met your mother, you know your mother was very helpful, so she helped her mother and her to hide, but she didn't know she was calling for her own death..the day her mother was discovered, she asked your mother to protect Radhika, which your mother did, until she was also discovered and then she was killed by her step father..her mother was guilty so she told me the truth, I was so angry at her and her step father, I wanted to kill him, but then I thought killing is mild punishment besides I may go to jail for this, the only way to punish him is imprison him for life time..My wife gave her life just to protect Radhika, I couldn't file a case that time because their lives was in danger..I gave her mother a promise that when she will die I will take care of Radhika, so I took her with me when her mother died, and then filed a case against him, only two days are left, after her testimony he will be in prison and Radhika would be free from him..That's the whole truth Dev..Radhika feels that she is responsible for your mother's death and now that she love you, she will feel more guilty about it..I never told her about myself, where I live, my real name, only the reason why I was protecting her was what I told her..I didn't even tell you because I was protecting you also, I don't want to see you hurt, that's why I asked you not to investigate on your mother's death, because I can't lose you the way I lost my wife..I'm sorry"
Dev was stunned to hear the whole truth, he was speechless. He couldn't utter a word, still digesting the words spoken by his father. Tears spilled from his eyes, his mother died because she was protecting Radhika, his Radhika but then he smiled finally he knows the truth, truth of her mother's death.
