TV actor Manish Goel shot for STAR One's dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha despite a dislocated right arm. Needless to say he was overjoyed when he received a standing ovation from the judges - Malaika Arora Khan and Chunky Pandey, as well as the audience.
"I was actually rehearsing for one of the rounds and I was to do a headstand. But I fell and ended up with a dislocated arm. This happened on September 1," Manish said.
The show pits eight female celebrities against an equal number of guys. Manish was to perform with actress Delnaaz Paul on the song Jai jai Shiv Shankar. He was instead hospitalised for one-and-a-half days.
However, he shot for the episode with one functional hand and said, "I did not even get the steps changed except the headstand that I could not do.
"I felt a certain responsibility towards my group. My confidence and inner strength motivated me to do it. And when I did it, the response was brilliant."
The episode will be aired on Monday. The actor says Malaika's comment was motivating.
"Malaika said that if the show had any bravery award, it should have been given to me. The compliment and appreciation made me feel really nice and boosted my self confidence levels."
The actor danced wearing a specially designed costume that hid his right arm.
"My right hand was bandaged properly but I was not supposed to move it. So the dress was designed at the last minute... and I must say my designer did a fabulous job."
Manish says he didn't feel much pain while dancing as he was given a painkiller before the performance.
Now, even after two weeks of his injury, he wears a bandage and a sling.
Manish has been featured in serials like Bhabhi, Saara Akaash and Kasautii Zindagi Kay. He also took part in another STAR dance show Nach Baliye with wife Poonam.
