Shyamalaji,
Thanks for messaging me about this awesome serial. You will kill me if I say that I wasn't even aware of.I am that poor person in US who doesn't have a TV 😆 And watch some serials online. When I saw the members I was delighted.Mandy,Sandhya,Sindhu,Ela ,Khushi and all here.So girls Shyamalaji is our Amitabh here. Why because most of us must have come here because of her.So she can say Amitabh's famous dailogue,"Hum Jahan Khade hote hain line waha se shuru hoti hain."
So we people who were on opposite direction in JA forum have crossed the LOC .Thanks Shaymalaji for Aman ki Asha.
Just watched the first episode and Amitabh's love for mineries continues from Kaaliya,Kaala Pathar.
And the name of his construction company "Shanti construction" reminds me of Trishul.Shayamali ,first episode was awesome. And you know it will appeal to those people who like realistic cinema and Anurag's fortay is that only realistic drama.Even I think this drama will appeal to people who liked hatke serials like Prison Break,24.
It's appealing and if it continues in the same way it might change the history of television Industry.

Of course all that is not needed, Vinita, and sometimes it is in very bad taste as well! Here, they show Yudh's home and lifestyle as very simple for someone so rich, somewhat like Mr. Narayanamurthy of Infosys.

I am afraid there does not seem to be any omnibus over the weekend, thanks to Sony's idiocy, so you will have to watch the first 2/3 episodes online, which would probably be much easier!

Shyamalaji,
Thanx for the pm. I watched it yesterday but since i have missed the initial episodes it was a lil confusing. I m hoping thatover the weekend i can catch up to it. As of now all i can say is that tge whole treatment, lighting, narrative it all reminds me of the old world charm of serials like buniyaad and khandaan and all which use to come when v were kids. It seems like a fast paced serial with no time for unnecessary details or delays. It makes me realise how use to we have become of serials with grandeur n opulence of ekta kapoor with designer clothes n ultra expensive sets that when a serial like yudh comes it makes one wonder is that all needed?

Rashmi dear, you do not how delighted I am to have my gang, Mandy, Ela, Sandhya (dragged here after 2 stiff lectures from Mandy and me), Khushi, now you too, and more to follow, plus a new recruit, Sindhu, here with me.

You will never regret it! Mandy is, as always, quite right; Yudh is a boutique production, not meant for mass consumption, but I hope it does reasonably well commercially, and paves the way for more such on TV. The last one of similar quality was Yashraj's Kismat in 2011, on the heels of the superb Powder the year before, and both failed despite their quality.

It is a marvellous story, and last night, episode 4 was like a bhool bhulaiya, the way the story twisted and turned. I am going to do my post on Episode 4 tomorrow, after I sit down and watch it carefully again before I write it, so that I do not make any bloomers.

The sad thing, Mandy dearest, is that there are apparently going to be only 20 episodes, for Sony had a little balloon up in the top left corner last night saying Only 16 episodes more! Plus this is confirmed on the Wikipedia site. Why do all good things have to be so short lived?

Rashmi, it is always better to be an original than to be one of the herd, so NOT having a TV in a country where the average household has 3 or 4 is nothing short of revolutionary. As for Yudh, it can be watched very comfortably online, so don't worry.

And thank you for those very flattering comments about me. If at all people come over here or anywhere else because of me, I would like to think it is because of their affection for me, which mirrors mine for them.

No, no, my dear, that was the same thug who shouts at Anuj over the phone when he is having tea with his father and the Municipal Commissioner and threatens him that if the faces of his 3 men on the CD leads the trail back to him main tumhde zinda gaad doonga!. Take a look at that scene again. In the one to which my question relates, the thug is wearing exactly the same outfit as during the telephone conversation with Anuj.

It is only he and his boys who are at risk because of the CD. The police inspector must have been bribed to let them out for the night, and now to save his own skin, and probably at the urging of Anuj, he kills them all in a fake encounter.

This is precisely why every episode of Yudh needs to be watched at least twice.

I feel the same as you about Rishi, and have written as much in this post, in the section An innocent abroad. He is not exactly like either his hard driving, dominating father, or his nagging mother; he is something different. There is a quirky, dreamy quality to him. Let us see.

As for Gautam, he is surely Yudh's mentor, and his senior associate in the old days. Not his father in law, as I myself thought after episode 1, for he is down in Yudh's mobile phone as Gautam Sir. I noted that when Yudh gets the message "Congrats, Yudh" just before the winner of the mining deal is announced..

I also found out from the summary of Yudh on the Sony website that Gauri is his first wife, who is alienated by his workaholism and his incessant drive. So they have an amicable divorce, and their daughter Taruni stays with her mother, who later marries that Jeet from the Vigilance Department. Nayantara is the woman he marries later for professional reasons, as her father is a powerful politico from a princely family , who however comes a cropper later, as his daughter recounted in Episode 1, because he cannot adjust to the new democratic set up.

I wondered at first why such a rich industrialist like Yudhistir Sikarwar has such a modest house and such a simple lifestyle: no grand drawing rooms in a huge mansion, no white liveried servants, just a maid who cooks, I presume, and serves at table. Probably styled after Mr.Narayanamurthy of Infosys and his 3 bedroom house in Jayanagar in Bangalore, but I was surprised that Nayantara, from a princely family, is comfortable with this.

I don't think that was an underworld boss...that was the police inspector who smuggled the three prisoners out of jail to plant explosives in the Government Hospital...he may have shown up there to possibly kill Nikhil but changed his mind? And then later on gone and killed the three prisoners instead?

Rishi was the most surprising character for me in this epi...he seems like a lazy, good for nothing spoilt brat on the surface but that comment about the machhars and naxalite parallel was surprisingly perceptive...and later on the way he played cricket with those kids deffo had a purpose to it...so he does have some of his father in him but overall he seems too irresponsible to really manage the responsibility that he's been given.

AB was magnificent as always...we got to see a stronger Yudh in this epi as compared to the first two epis where for the most part Yudh was struggling with the symptoms of his illness and seemed quite frail...

I'm more curious about the relationship b/w Gautam and Yudh...was he Yudh's mentor? They haven't been very clear on that front...cuz it seems Yudh's legacy is threatened on that front as well as Gautam is being targetted for an inquiry.
