My poor, dear Anu,

I think it is the generation gap; you do not have enough patience😉. Fine wine or dark chocolate is not to be gobbled, it should be rolled slowly on the tongue and savoured leisurely.

As for the pauses you resent, for me almost everyone of them is meant as prelude to a nuance, or a sign of mounting emotional tension. And if you had seen the much acclaimed Shanghai,or even the Guru Dutt classic Sahib, Biwi aur Ghulam, you would never have thought that Yudh is slow!

Why, last night the story in Yudh was literally galloping along! And I cannot remember ANY gap between lines either. My only grouse is that at times Amitabh Bachchan's lines are not too clear, probably because of the sync sound on top of his deep baritone.

And if you love Amitabh Bachchan's Yudh, why he is there for over 80% of the telecast time, so how can you not like the serial?😉

The background music is far more muted than in Jodha Akbar and the Mahabharat, the other 2 serials, and yes in Ek Hasina Thi, that I watch.

Cheer up, my dear, and watch it with a positive bent of mind. You cannot expect this to be a Jalandhar track, you know! I am loving it, and my post on Episode 3, A witches' brew, will be up in a moment. Take a look at it, there is my good girl!🤗

Your write up and in depth analysis of a show and its characters are always class apart Shyamala aunty.😊

I think Yudh maybe like some fine wine and not even chocolate (not everybody likes wine). The pace was excruciatingly slow. Too many moments of silence in between.

I do not like excessive background music, camera swishes etc, but did not imagine it would be *this* slow paced!😲

No one has impressed me yet except Mr Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon. They just light up the screen.

Dialogues are very good. But too much time passes by till someone has said something.

I have been watching Yudh out of curiosity, appreciate Amitabh Bachchan's brooding character but I find myself struggling to keep patient.

I feel the makers have been rather too indulgent.

I'm afraid Yudh is not working for me.😕

Welcome, my dear Munni, it is wonderful to have you here with us!

Let us cheer ourselves up for now with Yudh, and in 2 months, by the time it is over, JA just might have improved, though to tell the truth, I am not too hopeful.

My post on Episode 3 is coming up in a minute.

Kismat was an adaptation of Kane and Abel!!!!

Mahi Way was an adaptation of Bridget Jones's Diary!!!!

As long as it is adapted properly, it can be great!!!!

@Shyamala aunty
Good point about Amitabh Bachchan's dialogues. Indeed they are not clear often.

I believe Yudh has finest talent working on it yet somehow it has not drawn me in.

Seems too slow and subtle by Bachchan standards also. I am crazy about him since childhood and watched even films like Alaap on TV.

Yudh does not even feel like an art film. Or maybe it is in league of films like Dhobi ghat.

I do not feel like a drawn in viewer watching Yudh. Just feel like a spectator. I like being pulled into the universe of any serial or film. Yudh has not pulled me in yet.

I will still watch it for Bachchan though. How often we get to see such a talent and personality on TV after all?

I will keep coming around to read your wonderful analysis as well. Not many shows get write ups from you!

I personally don't like dark chocolates...but I am liking Yudh..😃
As for Epi 2. I don't get why YS trusts the tipper so blindly. He trusted his info on the hospital and the cds too. YS is old enough and experienced enough and has lived a full life among politicians and others to know that nothing so big is done as an act of charity.
Also, his line of morality was amusing. Appeasing the politicians was okay but not a bargain with Malliks. But he did look sheepish arguing that. But don't we all do that? Speak volumes of principles and yet do circumvent them at times to get things done for what we believe is overall better...as Dumbledore says 'for the greater good' . Afterall appeasing the politicians to have his projects sanctioned was for the 10000 men whose livelihood depended upon him.😆

Sandhya dear,

It is not a question of Yudh trusting the man who tips him off blindly. In the case of the hospital, Yudh cannot afford to take any chances with the human lives involved, and one of them is his beloved daughter Taruni. If the tipoff was wrong, all that he would lose would be a bit of face. it is a case of better safe than sorry.

With the CD again, his primary concern is to save the reputation of his firm, and of course his own. So he does not look this gift horse in the mouth. And as things turn out, he is correct in not doing so. Note that the Municipal Commissioner does NOT claim that the CD is fake; his rebuttal is based on the supposed presence of the 3 convicts in jail on that night, whence his jeering remark that they do not give the prisoners day passes to go out of the jail.

So it is not that Yudh is naive on either occasion; it is just that his need to believe in the tip is far greater than the kind of scepticism one calls healthy. In the first case, he does what any conscientious citizen would have done, only he has far greater influence with the authorities and is able to mobilise much more of help than the average citizen could in the same situation.

As for the selective morality, I agree with you, and had noted as much in the post:

"I loved the argument about the ethics of getting round corrupt Ministers for business reasons, overlooking their sleazy goings on. Yudh splits hairs here with aplomb, drawing a somewhat specious distinction between their wrong doings, of which he has only heard rumours, and the pratyaksha villainy of the Anuj Malik kind. This is what is called comparative morality!"

I am so glad that you really like Yudh; I have drawn a blank with Adiana, and am rather disappointed with that! Lashy will come round soon, I am sure.

WOW...WOW another fabulous write up which was even better to read after I watched the episode...
Absolutely brilliant is the word...What a pleasure to read such a fantastic take on the story so far...

Leaves me with nothing much to add except that this show is one of a kind...for a specific audience which has to pay attention to the story rather than casually watch it for they would miss the essence of the finer details that certainly is not worth a skip!

Excellent performance by one and all...and I think the pace has already picked up in the second one...

Even I loved watching Amitabh in his Angry young man style when he shuts up Anand and asks Mona to go ahead and arrange for the press conference...

Beautiful scene between Gauri and Yudh...his expressions as always was outstanding!
Taruni is very vibrant too and I wonder what would happen once Nayan knows the truth...not just about Taruni but about his health...which is still kept under wraps...hopefully the mama does not spill the beans as surely he must have guessed something and may even blackmail them to keep it from his sister's knowledge.

The joker aspect is a new way to bring out the inner fears that one has...about death...very novel indeed!

Thank you once again...😃
Will be back on the third one tomorrow😊
