Namaskar forum waasiyon,

Before you start reading, I suggest reading this on a pc or a laptop because phone par bohot lamba lagega. Now that you have been warned, let's start!

I recently revisited the 1st episode because I had started forgetting the show. I've kind of decided to re-watch the show in its entirety again (we'll see if I do that or not, meh) and in order this time because when it was airing, I had started from somewhere in the middle and I would go back as and when the story required/intrigued me to.

Backstory aside, re-watching the 1st episode after so long felt like I was watching it for the 1st time but not really because I kinda knew what was going to happen so my focus was caught by things that you would not really notice when you want to see aage kya hone waala hai, which was pretty interesting and I thought I'll share it here because aur kahaan hi karungi?smiley36

*Edited*

1. Background Music: The background score is beautiful, right from the 1st second till the last. DKP really deserves credit for the music because both this show and the PS have great music. I especially loved the rendition of the gujarati folk song that they created and used. I wish they would release it (because I could not find it anywhere on the internet).

2. Kuhu-Mishti's conversation/relationship: They surmised their relationship in literally few minutes. You can see why they don't like each other and what makes them insecure. I want to take a moment here to say "What great writing, direction and acting!!👏".

Coming to my reading of the scene, Mishti is annoyed by the way how Kuhu so easily becomes the centre of attention and more importantly holds it. Also, throughout the episode, we see her chiding Kuhu for being childish without any proper reason really (except for one which I have mentioned later on). I just realised that she is either worried, annoyed or throwing shade at people through the whole episode except for when the gujarati music plays (anyone has another scene?). Back to the scene at hand which I put on the side after the very 1st sentence of this paragraph, we see Mishti smirking looking at Kuhu being the centre of attention and goes back to reading the menu. That is why I say it annoys her that Kuhu has all the attention.

On the other hand, Kuhu, after her performance, comes and steals the menu from Mishti's hands (very sister-like move, in my opinion) and Mishti gets annoyed (as anyone would) but she does not take the menu back (sister-like move from both sides! Nice!). Then, we see Kuhu talking to the waiter about how Mishti is a first-bencher, and this is where we see Kuhu kind of telling us her traits and also taunting Mishti about the fact that she never has fun or lets loose. Mishti calls her a last-bencher with disdain (don't know if that's the correct word to use here but yahi yaad aa raha tha) and puts on earphones to not be able to hear Kuhu's chatter and kind of calm herself which doesn't work since she is clearly still annoyed as she says "Ho gaya tera chow-chow?" and then she proceeds to ask the waiter for the menu.

Moving on, we see Mishti overthinking about what she should eat and then comes the line which sets up the main difference in their characters: "Tu pareshaan karna band karegi?" "Tu pareshaan hona band karegi?". Mishti tenses up in every situation and starts overthinking whereas Kuhu tries to experience everything and then decides what she wants. Now, as I watch, being able to notice and dissect the whole episode, I realised that actual me to Kuhu has to be the mature one because she has more experience as she is more open to things and Mishti being super cautious naturally loses out on experiencing and learning about new things. (Iss se pehle someone starts giving me examples from further episodes, mai pehle hi bata doon that my analysis is based off of dialogues and scenes from this episode only).

Last and final thing in this interaction: khargosh and kachhua! As Kuhu and the waiter tease her in an attempt to tell her to take things lightly, Mishti takes Kuhu's light-hearted "Mishti mandap se bhaag gayi" to mean that she runs away from things and using the hare and tortoise analogy, she brings it back to rub the fact in that Kuhu is a last bencher and she always comes first, and here, we get to see Kuhu be annoyed for the 1st time, leading to #MishtiMuhKeBalGiri (establishing that Kuhu might be an influencer. Also, props to Kaveri for typing the hashtag using capital letters for the different words in the hashtag. Mere OCD brain ko kaafi shaanti mili). This tells us 2 things: one, Kuhu either doesn't like the competition or she doesn't like being second to Mishti. Second, Mishti holds on to the grudge and strikes the blow after the other person has let go of it which in turn tells us that she either tries to supress it until she can't hold it in, she doesn't have enough social skills to know when to end an argument or she hits when the person least expects it. Going back to the prank, you can see why Mishti calls Kuhu childish but on the other hand, even though the prank was a bit much, it was done on provocation.

Blooper time -

> Mishti put on the earphones before Kuhu started speaking so she could have ordered what she wanted at that point of time but maybe that was her trying to tell Kuhu that she is above "this nonsense".

> Mishti already had the menu in her hand when she removed her headphones.smiley22

> At the end, Mishti doesn't order food only to itna time kis liye lagaaya

3. Meenakshi Rajvansh: I have one word for the entry - grand! They established the fear surrounding her character and her authority by showing that even her own father was somewhat scared of what will happen when she finds out that Ketki is missing. (Again, great writing!!) Can I just say that all entries failed in comparison to hers? You get chills when her signature tune gets played and then, Meenakshi's face is revealed. The entry only tells you the amount of confidence the makers had on the actors' skill as well as the characterization. And it was such a brilliant move not lathering her in makeup like Kokila because one, it must have shocked the people who were expecting to see that and two, it tells you that she ain't no Kokila; She is Meenakshi Rajvansh.

Bonus - The sheer contrast between Abir and Meenakshi's intros and the RV family's reactions for the two established that they would be poles apart and at loggerheads. That is called good directing!

The most telling part about Meenakshi is when she says that she knows that Ketki is missing. Frankly, each and every Meenu scene in the episode tells you something new about her. That is the level of layers that the writers have given to her character.

> She knows Ketki is missing but is still playing her Sitar at 9am like clockwork - Tells us that riyaaz is very important for her and this gives all the family members time to find out on their own and panic before she drops the saat sur bomb, establishing that she is super observant and telling everyone around her that they don't have their shit together and that is why she is the head of this household.

> Meenakshi calling Kunal - She had it all under control isliye Sitar baja rahi thi and also because it eases the tension which she only expressed in front of Kunal because as she said, he is the only person she trusts.

> Chaand pe laaga daag - Woman is very concerned about the family reputation (and we know why that is. If you haven't watched the show, it's a spoiler and also, what are you even doing reading this post?). Also, this scene establishes that he is the zimmedaar beta whereas Abir is the rebel whose whereabouts are unknown as of now.

> All the following scenes established Parul and Meenakshi's relationship as well as show us that Meenakshi is quick to think on her feet and mould according to the changes in the situation. These traits are not your typical ITV villain traits which make her character all the more interesting.

Kaafi lamba ho gaya na? Let's fast forward this post a little bit.

4. Abir's shayari and bus top conversation: The infamous shayari "Tasveer me kiska chehra hai.." and Abir's "thaam-na" comment, I mean, aur koi proof chahiye ki ladka actively apna life partner dhoondh raha hai?!

Also, here we are once again witnessed to Mishti's overthinking habits and I know this was to basically establish that they both suffer from trauma (too heavy a word?) of their fathers leaving them at a young age but how do you make a random comment about yourself?😳 (What ya, writers? Baaki episode bohot sahi likha tha to maaf kiya!)

Thoda rewind karte hain and tasveer waale moment par jaate hain. Mishti ducks as soon as she sees Abir clicking random pictures and the camera pointed in her direction. First of all, quick reflexes! Second and more importantly, girl is suspicious by nature (probably because of her dad leaving).

Lastly, they established the similarities between Kuhu and Abir in this scene only. Abir dancing and enjoying when the band starts playing, which was probably the same band Kuhu was jamming with, and Mishti getting annoyed by the dance. I know wo isliye tha because random ladka leaning on you as he dances but mujhe similar reaction use karna tha to maine kar diya.

5. Ladke ne ladki ko dekha: Seeing a girl get excited about a handsome guy noticing her and then checking your reflection to make sure you look good is so fresh even though it happens to countless people in real life. Also, the confidence to be like "ek baar gaadi rok do" as if that is the only thing one needs in their favour to be able to make a guy fall for them. Mujhe bhi chahiye aisa confidence zindagi me!

6. Karan-Arjun ka milan: Abir has been on radio silence for 21 days. Meri maa hoti to maar hi daalti.

Coming to observations,

> Kunal goes against his mother's wishes to find his brother - Abir is higher on the priority list for him.

> Abir is a quick thinker like his mother, suggesting his Nanko to open up his app.

> Abir is also unconsciously reassuring himself and replying to his mother when he says "Aakhir family ke kaam to mera aap hi aaya". I've used this tactic way too many times to reassure myself and lose the guilt I have for not being an active member of the family. Related with Abir way too hard in this episode because bande ko photography ka bhi shaukh meri tarah and mummy se bhi 36 ka aankda. Ye show achaanak se real kyun ho gaya bhai?!

7. Helping Ketki: They established that this episode ain't about Ketu. She is a catalyst for now. Let's get to what I learnt about MishKu from this:

> Kuhu doesn't really care about random strangers stressing in life until they ask her for help saamne se which is what Ketki did. She gives her a solution which will involve Ketki calming down on her own and saath me she knows that she isn't qualified to give her advice at this point to ghar le kar jaane se badon ki advice bhi mil jaayegi. (Reading too much into it? I know. I am an over-thinker so deal with it.)

> Mishti goes into overthinking zone again because Ketki ne poochha ki "tum kya karti agar meri jagah hoti to?". Wahaan tak theek tha but what stood out for me and introduced me to possibly the most annoying trait a female lead or rather any person can have: "Mai use aisa nahi karne dungi!". She is a stranger who asked you for help then just help no. Don't take it upon yourself to decide what the decision of that person has to be. That is not fair at all! Aur iss se pehle people start defending, Mishti made sure that what she wants happens by making that video call. How can you do that when you have no idea of the family's background? What if they weren't decent people? Gangsters nikalte to? For an overthinker, she really didn't think of how this might result for Ketki.

Pihu!!! Thanks for starting this thread!! I'm excited to see where it goes.

I read through your narration, and I loved every bit of it. You added so much spunk and personality to it, and it made for a great read. I think I'll quote certain things from it and continue the discussion.

This is spot on. I love how they captured the characterization of the two girls right away and how they established their conflict along with it. It's brilliant, well thought-out writing! Mishti's insecurity when it comes to Kuhu being able to work crowds and easily get attention is highlighted many times over the course of this show, and she often ends up dealing with this insecurity of hers by unintentionally patronizing Kuhu, much to Kuhu's ire. And since Kuhu can be quite childish in some instances (and like you said, she hates being second to Mishti), she doesn't know how else to deal with her frustrations other than lashing out at Mishti.

I must admit, when I saw that Rupal Patel was going to play the role of Meenakshi, I was expecting a carbon copy of Kokila's character. Her intro pleasantly surprised me though (a large part of my pleasant surprise had to do with the lack of the overdone kajal, I think)! And the dynamic between Meenu and Kunal being established right away is something I have come to appreciate as their bond is further developed on in the following episodes. It makes for a unique situation, in which the younger son is the take-charge, hold-the-fort-down sort of aadarsh beta, while the older son is "discovering himself".

Nothing more to say here! It's one of the main reasons I immediately got interested in Kuhu's character. It's so refreshing to see a not-so-sharmili girl on screen; a girl who knows what she wants, and isn't the least bit afraid to chase after it.

Yeah, this didn't make much sense to me either. If a stranger were to ask me for advice, I'd give it and keep moving on. I wouldn't take it upon myself to assume what is right for them and then interfere to that level. It's kind of weird, and it really wasn't her place to do so. There are so many instances in which girls are either forcefully married off or even killed when they try running away. Without knowing someone's family situation, how can you just make unilateral decisions like that for them?

However, thinking about a scenario in which Mishti doesn't make the video call is intriguing to me. Would the rishta swap have even happened in the first place? Or would something else have happened in the middle for Meenakshi to lose faith in the two girls anyway? I'd like to think it's the latter, because otherwise the plot that follows the video call would seem much too contrived and dependent on a singular event.

Thanks for reading this super long post and responding Meera!!smiley27

Lag to nahi raha ki yeh thread kahin jaane waala hai in terms of discussion so I'll probably make this a dumping ground for my thoughts on the show.

Taking your example on continuing the discussion:

The writing was so tight in the first few months. Absolutely brilliant! I am so glad that they kept these characteristic traits throughout the show and I hope they would actually address it. If I remember correctly, Kuhu's childish actions have been mentioned a few times so we might get to see some development in that regard and that will hopefully lead to a conversation and we'll get to see MishKu finally be sisters but then fir show khatam ho jaayega so probably not?

Tbh, I love Meenu and Kunal's bond, even with how manipulative Meenu was. Also, how this aadarsh beta was the bridge between Abir and Meenu. I am actually so excited to see how they would resolve the aftermath of logo reveal whenever the episodes and Ritvik come back on air.

Exactly my point! I couldn't digest that someone did that. I could never!

I think the rishta swap would have still taken place because she saw Kuhu shouting saying "Maine Ketki ki help ki thi" in the 2nd episode.

The plot was definitely not dependent on a singular event. It was dependent on a singular earring.😆

Just to make a clarification to people, I'm sorry if the disclaimer seemed like I was asking a particular fan group to stay away, I wasn't. I had definitely asked people to not express offensive opinions and I agree that was wrong of me to do that because this is, at the end of the day, a public forum.

I just wanted to clarify that my disclaimer wasn't meant for a particular fan group so if anyone felt, I apologise.

Hi guys sorry for the late reply as I know I am a day late and but I also want to discuss something. This is not a first episode of yrhpk there was a combine episode of yrkkh and yrhpk in which the introduction was gvn of mishti and kuhu .

It all started as the cycle race where they both are against each other it was a final year of college while mishti was heading to win the race Kuhu because of jealousy push her down and mishti again ride the cycle but on second attempt when Kuhu again try to push this time they both fell down and out of cycle race . This scene give the in site that mishti is not someone who will take the anything in fact she will give it back and Kuhu she tried first to compete but when she saw that she is losing she tried everything hook and crook. Kuhu tries her best to win and mishti never take insults and when teacher scolded them to behave properly as they are sisters so they both said that they are both sisters so feelings were mutual. They both never tried to understand each other POV. And the kutch performance was a task gvn to both of them as the girl who was about to perform got hurt.

This scene shows their characteristics and personality traits.

The second scene was of devyani where she was with rajshri and mishti came there for the signature on permission letter as she was her legal guardian she tried to bless her but mishti avoided her . Felt bad but mishti has her own reason and BM saw but said nothing.

Third scene was with kartik where they both help kartik I personally liked that scene that showed that they both can be a team and work together and they have helped him . Kartik discuss his problem with mishti that how can someone forget so easily and mishti replied yes some people do forget as everyone on her family did. Kartik gave his explanation that he tried to search her and from that episode again they became friends.

Many things are concluded that mishti and Kuhu both the different where for Kuhu wining appreciation and center of the attraction is important for mishti she has her own world in which she is still looking answers both can be best team and at times worst competitors.

Sorry for the long post but this is my POV.

Hey @lovelycolour! Thanks for replying.

Technically, it is the first episode. Yes, it's not an introduction episode for Kuhu and Mishti's character. The makers did the backdoor pilot thing for them.

I will be honest. I had seen the YRKKH episodes but I had skipped the cycle race scenes because I was skimming through to see KaiRa's story. After reading your reply, I decided to go back and see it. So, I would like to thank you because I am so glad I did. The feeling of watching the introduction of characters is one thing that always remains fresh no matter how many times you see it and iss case me to maine intro dekha hi nahi tha to it was super fresh for me.

After seeing the episodes, I mostly agree with your perspective and I really like how you've summarised their relationship and given your view of Mishti's backstory. Them being a team when they were trying to help Kartik and Naira is what made me watch this show. I don't know why I never went back to watch the racing scene.

I have a few more things to add and share the scenes/details of the cycle race scene that stood out for me. Let me know what you think.

> They were competing in a race for the 1st time. So, iss se pehle, they were only compared at the academic level in which Mishti always came first.

> Their introductory looks/expressions: As the crowd cheered for the 2, Mishti looks quite content, happy and if I may say so, a bit grateful (it's probably the wrong word but I can't seem to think of a better word to describe that expression) with the attention she is receiving. My guess is that is because she doesn't recieve much of it being the studious kid so co-curricular activities is where she gets that gratification. Coming to Kuhu, she has a look of confidence and that assurity of someone who is the centre of attention and loves it. And then she also does a wave to the crowd when she is introduced.

> Then Kuhu asks Mishti to bet on who will win first telling her that this is a competition. Mishti says that it doesn't matter who wins (because at the end of day, the winner will be the college) but then the most interesting thing happened after the race started, Mishti started eyeing Kuhu giving fuel to saying "saamne kuch aur peeche kuch aur". I was so not expecting to see that. I was expecting Mishti to be focussed on winning and then give it back when Kuhu tries to take her down. And like you mentioned, Kuhu was trying to win on her own and then when she sees that she won't be able to win, she decides to take matters into her own hands and throws pebbles out of her pouch. And I got to see Mishti's quick reflexes again when she gets Kuhu to fall.

> She tells her to take her hand because others were getting away and they need to win but saath hi me, she rubs in Kuhu's weaknesses that she always needs help, be it studies or sports. (Ouch!) Is this the time to throw shade, girl?! You have a race to finish. I had been thinking of Mishti in such one dimensional terms till now, that she is like a typical SP lead: sweet, strong, doesn't take shit from people but ye to shaatir bhi nikli. Watching the show will become interesting now.

> Motivations: Kuhu's voiceover said "Mishti ghar me apne medal ka exhibition karegi to tu kya dikhayegi?" and Mishti's was "Mai iss Kuhu ki bachhi ko jeetne nahi dungi" which gives another layer to these two characters. Kuhu is doing this to have respect in the eyes of her family and Mishti doesn't want Kuhu to win because she is very competitive (which she is as I mentioned above) but also because (this is speculation) Kuhu tried to take her down by throwing pebbles her way. And then Kuhu falls down after losing balance when she kicks Mishti and she looks so calm after that which shows that she never cared about winning the actual race. Jab tak she doesn't have to be 2nd in the eyes of her family, tab tak it's okay. But then comes the matter of college authorities and students and things remain the same.
