I was flicking through the earlier episodes of the show to capture some more KuKu clips I came across two scenes that makes me believe that even if we get Kuhu's breakdown, as Sam said, Mishti will put it back on Kuhu; the writers will invalidate Kuhu's issues and force us to believe Kuhu is 'wrong'.

The first scene I watched was a convo between Mishti and Kunal during the ganpati episodes. She tries to make sense of the events that have occured and tries to reason with Kunal by saying that everything was due to fate. Had they not met and had she not rejected Kunal, Kuhu and Kunal would've never gotten together and gotten married.

After Kunal, Kuhu and Mishti go shopping and Kunal storms off when someone makes a remark, Kuhu is annoyed with Mishti. When they come home, Mishti says something similar to Kuhu. That had she not met kunal, Kuhu and Kuhu would never be getting married and that she is the reason they are together.

I was kind of shocked by these dialogues since Kuhu and Kunal's rishta was always supposed to happen. And it was Varsha who fought for her daughter's rishta with Kunal. It was only because BM and BP were so insensitive and the status they hold in the family that they decided it was a great idea to pass the rishta over to their daughter.

So what I'm trying to say is that the mess was created by that family and then they pat themselves on the back for intruding and supposedly sorting everything out. I know I'm going backwards but my mind was blown by the audacity and I wondered if this had already been discussed and disected on the forum. Kuhu and kunal's relationship was genuine. It was only when people push and pulled at them did things go haywire.

p.s. I'm absolutely prepared for my post to be deleted because criticising FL's of ITV seems to be a cardinal sin.

Okay with many thanks to Snow for the encouragement and troubleshooting, I present my first attempt at a VM. I have to say, despite their being some choppy bits and other major flaws, I am not at all mad at how this turned out for a first try! I would love to know what you all think 😃

@Peace: I totally agree. I wish they had actually shown Kunal and Mishti working together because that is really the only area I can see them getting along and actually bonding. The one scene I did like was when Mishti overheard Kunal's conversation about the sleeping pills with Meenu. It felt more candid, like he was telling her more about how this family works. With Abir being the hotheaded rebel that he is, I think Mishti needs someone like that and we all know she won't be listening to Kuhu's advice. 🤔

@Meera: I think it also relates to their confrontation after KC when Kuhu said Kunal will alienate his entire family by making the divorce papers public and called him an #epicloser. I think what he meant in this scene was that he'd have to be a special type of stupid to be married to a woman like Kuhu, who loves him and who he loves, and who has become an integral part of his family and let her go, just because he couldn't express his true feelings.

After this, he said something so epically stupid but so characteristically Kunal when he wondered if he could do something to make her FORGET to leave 🤣So basically, he was hoping the divorce would just slip her mind. Sometimes I can't with this #dufferchokro 😆

@Snow: In TIU, Randall invalidates Kevin but then by the end of the episode comes around, apologises, and says that if Kevin experienced it then it's not anyone's place to say he is wrong. That is what I wish we could eventually see with Kuhu, but I agree that we probably won't with these writers. The longevity of the show is based on keeping Kuku almost evil and Meenu almost redeemable, not on real character development. And that's the eternal tragedy.

I will post with the same disclaimer, but this is one of the things that turned me off Mishti very early on. When she is called out on her faults/flaws, she brings out a list of things she has done right and throws them in Kuhu's face OR she turns it around and makes it about how what Kuhu has done is worse. There is rarely a single moment of introspection or remorse, and on the occasion there is, it certainly doesn't lead to an apology. She still hasn't apologised sincerely for going through Kuhu's papers, but she has brought up the mandap drama multiple times since the shaadi. I think that says it all.

The family is truly shameful. It's even worse than just congratulating themselves on things working out because they know they haven't! And instead of intervening, BP smugly declared that they had "found" Mishti and Kuhu good partners and it's their problem now. Audacity doesn't even begin to cover it!

I want the writers to show Kuhu hit her lowest point just like Kevin did in the second season. ( Kaveri would give a mindblowing performance in those scenes). Maybe that would finally knock some sense into Maheshworis and Kunal on how they have been neglecting Kuhu's feelings and her valid concerns which led to her breakdown.

And talking about TIU, the way Randall and William's plot was handled was amazing. Randall never actually called William his Dad but the way he understood and forgave William was beautifully shown. I wish they would have shown something similar to that for Parul and Kunal instead of creating a huge scene and fuss out of giving Parul her "right" to be called Kunal's Maa. That was really out of character for Kunal.

We get few glimpses of real Kunal in some episodes which keeps me from completely disliking his character. The scenes where Kunal closed the curtains so that the light doesn't bother Parul or kept quiet when he hit his foot so that Parul does not get disturbed, shows the real Kunal. I wish we could see that Kunal more often. Instead of him following Abir's silly ideas to put bandaid on problems, I would love to see Kunal's character evolve and become more aware of the feelings of people other than Abir, Mishti and both of his moms.

@bold: Completely agree with you. And love the word thopofy ❤️ I am stealing that word and will start using in my real-life conversations as well 😆

I am a kuku fan & a silent stalker. Now a days I visit this AT as I have ample time. You people are amazing.

I want to add my perspective.Yesterdsy I was watching sweta track & found Abir literally forced kuhu on kunal. He always says Kunal is manipulated by meenu & don't allow him to take independent decision but Abir also don't give him liberty to breathe. To drive away sweta he was hounding kunal's mind so that he rejects her & accept kuhu. Abir forcing kuhu at kunal is somewhere his guilt of his hidden feelings for Misti which he recently agreed now in re run episodes in his bytes.Kunal is always forced to take decision as per others wishes Even to accept parul he was forced. That scene when misti gave dustbin to kunal to go to parul & talk was so cringe worthy.Only kuhu is that person in his life who gives him liberty & freedom to take his decision . She never forced herself or to change him or accept parul. She had only given suggestions & it was so organic that's why we see real kunal when he is with kuhu.Sadly he is taking her for granted & totally ignoring her emotionss & inner conflicts.

Sam, I loved the vm👍🏼 doesnt look like your first attempt, the black & white theme goes perfectly with the ghazal chosen👏

Now coming to the discussion going on, I agree on all that is being posted by you all, the fact that the rishta was first of all proposed for kuhu (even the auntyji, who proposed the rishta had meant it for kunal-kuhu since she was Varsha's friend) is so conveniently forgotten is just not done👎🏼

and the rishta swap being accepted by Maheshwaris just because as per BM Kunal saved Mishti in an accident was 🤬 I find meenu totally justified about her doubts for Maheshwaris in this case, she would never do that had it been in abinal case & the grooms were swapped😎

I would completely blame the writers for mishti's characterisation & dialogues, I agree that they are trying to stick to her basic character of younger mishti from the ps, her being ruining things in the name of help, but now she has grown up, show some growth in her character yaar

what was the point of showing the flawed leads if you are not going to address their issues & thus resulting in some character growth?

Namrata, welcome dear

exactly, well-put👍🏼 whatever abir may say the fact is that he is no less than meenu when it comes to kunal, he is equally over-protective, manipulative & stubborn

no wonder Kunal doesnt know himself at all, and has such poor EQ, work is the only place he gets recognition & his efforts pay-off so he loves his work

as per my understanding, Kuhu loves Kunal & forgives him every time for the same reason, she understands his struggles, she has observed him & knows what he goes through, thats why she has such low expectations from him

@bold: I think he was hoping that by his special gestures during mishbir sangeet, Kuhu may decide to drop the divorce matter, maybe he thought that he would try to impress Kuhu & make her realise about his changed feelings for her

he did try to take her away to talk before the jhoomar falls and also kept flirting with her throughout (tried gifting her saree again, sang the lyrics looking at her 'tareef teri karna tujhe khone se darna...', took her aside with him to dance with him), so he did try to express to Kuhu in his own ways

but he didnt know that Kuhu was super annoyed this time & she will not be able to understand without a grand gesture or a clear conversation this time

Extremely sorry to bombard with repetitive content, but I just found a software that works much better on my computer and I think this is an improved version of the same VM (with some of the scenes I originally couldn't include because the other software was giving me trouble). 😛

Again, I would love to know which version you guys prefer, and any other feedback you have.

@NamrataRa: Welcome to the AT! That's a really good point you raise about the Shweta phase. Even in that regard, Kuhu was the only person who actually listened to Kunal when he spoke about his heartbreak (on the bachelor's party night). Everyone else was too busy pushing him to snap out of it, without any of them really understanding the pain he was going through.

And I definitely agree that Abir's guilt played a major role in forcing Kuhu on Kunal. He and Mishti really did a number on them in their enthusiasm and I still hold it against Mishti that she told BP the truth when Kuhu begged her not to. Kuku were in a dating/flirty space but they were nowhere near ready for the M word in this context!

@Peace: Thanks! I loved the b&w as well and generally wanted to give it that old-world feel.

Meenu constantly underestimated the Maheshwaris' desperation to get their daughters married. That has fuelled the first 275 episodes of the show. 🤣

As you can imagine, I have been listening to this ghazal all day and your post just reminded me of the third verse:

Hum labon se keh na paye unse haal-e-dil kabhi

Aur vo samjhi nahi ye khamoshi kya cheez hai

I was actually a bit torn which verse to try editing on today because this suits Kunal to a tee as well! I like to pull his leg but the truth is that he really struggled with the fear of rejection and committing to his feelings about Kuhu when he wasn't sure he'd be able to nibhao the relationship fully. I think he did know that Kuhu was annoyed, but he didn't know what balm to apply to get her to listen to him. Like he said to Abir, he struggles with words. Luckily Kuhu responds to all the other ways he expresses himself, she just needed one confirmation that he wants her in his life. ❤️

yes the lyrics suit Kuku perfectly in this situation👍🏼

and the Hum labon se keh na paye unse haal-e-dil kabhi is as if story of Kunal's life but thankfully Kuhu usually understands his unsaid words too❤️ unless she is preoccupied with her #mishtimania😆

probably thats why the kuku lovers usually side with Kuhu she puts in lot more in their rishta than Kunal, also because Kunal needs Kuhu more than Kuhu needs Kunal🤓 (and I think Kunal knows this🤪)
