Hi Nikkie !!

I think it will be a long time before the lockdown will be lifted.

Unfortunately, the situation will get a lot worse before it will get better. We have been in partial lockdown for over 6 weeks and and our government is planning to extend it further because the infection rate is increasing exponentially. I wish we could just skip 2020 and move to 2021 now 🤔 2020 is the worst year ever!!

Since so many of us are fans of TIU in this AT, did anyone else wish that Kunal and Mishti's relationship was similar to Kevin and Beth. I love that Kevin and Beth have mutual love and respect but are not particularly fond of each other.

It would have been so much more realistic to see that side of Kunal than the Laxman version of Kunal we are getting now. Kunal's devotion towards Mishti came out of nowhere and it seems forced that he blindly follows her every word now.

But since Kunal's character has no individuality it makes sense that he loves whoever is important to his brother and his family. But it would have been so interesting to see Kunal and Mishti's relationship develop gradually and them pulling each other's leg and tolerating each other in a loving way.

Sighh !! Why do I always forget I am watching an ITV show where every character either loves the FL or hate her, there is no other feeling besides love and hate. 😒

That's a great thought but Kunal's character hasn't been written that way probably.

@Bold: isn't there? What about Kuhu and Mishti's scenes after Navratri and before Nishant's exit?? That was a grey area.

Hey everybody! I am Shonali.

So I recently watched a VM of Kunal & Kuhu and it was love at first sight. I don't know much of their story but they look cute together and it appears that they have a lot of conflicts going on.

Actually I don't watch YRHPK for the same reason I don't watch YRKKH. I don't like characters like Naira and Mishti who are portrayed to be the best & mahaan kind of. Well, I don't hate Mishti's character but I don't like it either, I don't know why but I just don't have the "connection" with her.

I don't much about the story but I have read a few fanfictions here and at Wattpad and read a few other posts as well and Kuhu kinda connects with me. I can relate with her because of the sibling jealousy thing and also because while Mishti is portrayed to be the perfect beti, Kuhu is called #immature which is the story of my life!

It's because I have a younger sister and the constant comparison sucks! So I know how exhausting it is and that it makes you angry but of-course others feel that your anger is misdirected or they call you disrespecting.

Mishti might be nice and a really good person but I like Kuhu more. And I want to know more about Kuhu, all about her relationships and especially about her & Kunal.

I want to write something about Kuhu mostly for my own satisfaction, to satisfy my heart's desires. So can anyone please tell all about Kuhu in brief, the highlights, and lowlights in her life etc.

Please! Please!!

@bold: Yes of course. It was just an idea that I had. Kunal and Kevin's character are completely different. But I was just saying that it would have been much more fun if they showed Kunal and Mishti's relationship like that. I like it when the characters adore each other but don't show it out in open, especially the characters who are not romantically involved ( if you have watched Sarbhai Vs Sarabhai, Monisha and her mother-in-law's relationship is like that).

And regarding the grey area, yes the writers do try to show that with Kuhu and Mishti, but I would actually like to see that feeling from both side, not just Kuhu. Most of the time Mishti likes Kuhu and he Kuhuness or simply hates it as she does in the current storyline. Again, my opinion just based on how I would wish to see the characters and not really related to how the characters are written in the show. 😊

I think I've said this before, but I see a lot of similarities in the relationships between Kevin and Randall and Kuhu and Mishti, as well as the respective characters. I only wish this show would go there with Mishti like TIU did with Randall this past season. Obviously Kuhu was never close to being as messy as Kevin is, but she had a very similar character arc -- she seems selfish and weak at first, but you slowly realise that's because she's been taking care of herself from childhood, without much attention, "because she seems to be fine."

EDITED TO ADD: Totally with you Nikki! That said, I like that they have kept Kunal quite awkward and formal with Mishti. He's definitely making an effort because she is his bhai's wife, but I definitely don't see a genuine connection there yet. The only real conversation they had that wasn't about either Abir or Kuhu was when Kunal asked her about her adoption, and even that was very formal. I also find this whole devar-bhabhi thing quite cringe in their specific case -- like when she pulled his ear. It just feels weird to ignore their roles in the outside world and suddenly thopofy this cliched behaviour on them.

Nikki,

Why are you justifying yourself so much?? We absolutely know where you're coming from. Don't be so apprehensive about sharing your ideas and opinions.

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is pop culture gold. It's a phenomenon! Imagining Kunal and Mishti as Maya and Monisha 🤯😂😂. This is some Alternate universe stuff that I have created in my head🤭😂

Hi Shonali!!

Welcome to the AT!!

I don't know if it's possible to describe Kuhu in brief as of now but I'll share this piece I had written when I was asked by a forum member about why I loved Kuhu so much. It was written a long time ago but I hope it gives you some insight into Kuhu. (Pasted below)

And hopefully, this gives you all you need.

I am not addressing Kuhu's character but the way her fans see her character in every situation.

See mishbir fans when see mishti as a character we see a strong woman which have to prove multiple times her worth, and still she stood strong and for her love she can do anything . But let's not talk about mishti

We just want to know the reason why kuhu fans can relate to her character, what traits she has that makes her character get favoured but without involving mishti in it

Oooh!!! That's a nice question! And I guess, also a personal preference waala question. Okay, so for me, I like her character because she is so flawed. (Strap in because this is going to be a long post.)

We are usually shown women that are the perfect bahus, daughters and what not. She was portrayed as the spoilt kid who was the life of the party. I mean, the first time she saw Kunal in that sportscar, she didn't really see him. She saw the sportscar. That's usually something you see the mean girl do in TV or films. The perfect ITV lead is supposed to fall for the ML sanskaar and attitude towards Life and not care about their financial status because maa-baap ne already uss cheez ka dhyaan rakh liya hota hai or in 'rishta' universe, Shankari Taismiley36

Continuing from the sportscar scene, she gets excited that he noticed her because he is handsome (according to conventional standards of beauty). Agar ugly hota to wahi reject ho jaata. All of us have a priority but you never see women in ITV mention it because ladkiyon ki choice to gharwaalo pe depend karni chahiye. Also, because casting directors always cast the stereotypical good looking dudes in important roles so zaroorat nahi hoti mention karne ki.

After that, we see her go for an arranged marriage and where incidentally, the guy is "Sportscar". From there, we see the crush turn into an achievable crush but the way she agreed with Mishti regarding the Marital courtship tells me that she wouldn't have just said yes to Kunal's proposal, however excited she was. She got to know Kunal and liked the way he came to her for advice and was able to open up about his doubts. I think, for the first time, she got that kind of importance and found out that someone seemed to appreciate for who she was.

I know a lot of people on the forum think that Kuhu is materialistic and thinks about money and stuff but tell me, what is wrong with that? If I am looking to get married in an arranged setup, I would too. I'll address the Parul being her saas thing here only and move on: I don't think she would disown Kunal if the truth came out in front of the Maheshwaris because one, she loves Kunal and second, she is financially stable on her own. What she is worried about is being neglected in the RV household or to put it in better words: Be the Parul to Mishti's Meenu. Now, let's move on!

To cover what I have said till here: the girl knows what she wants (even if most people see it as a bad trait) and isn't apologetic about it. That is the quality you rarely see in a female character on ITV and the reason why her character seemed so fresh to me.

Then, see her hating Mishti but also secretly caring about her when she lightens her mood after Holi and regrets shouting at Mishti after the rishta swap and then baking a cake for her. That leads me to believe that we haven't been told the real reason why Kuhu hates Mishti so much. I'm expecting it to be something big and I'm very eager to know it (refer for my theory: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/152960266)

Sorry! I get distracted easily but I guess the above was relevant. Anyway, one of the traits I admire is that she calls out the Maheshwari family's double standards, be it dealing with MishKu: "Tu roye to tera dukh aur mai rou to wo tantrum?" or be it about ladkiyon ki aazaadi: https://www.instagram.com/p/B9eEvIBh7nz/?igshid=55l40olses23

For me, she portrays the women who have been taught to behave a certain way through TV shows and years of patriarchy but also trying to be their own selves. Her character shows me that struggle and the way she perfectly balances it. She tries to be the perfect bahu and beti as she was trained to be while hiding her real emotions because it may hurt the feelings of those around her but most of all, her mother (because she is super important to her). And with that, you see her struggle every time she asks for something that normally a perfect indian girl wouldn't. She is not strong or perfect and she knows it. She goes after materialistic things but she owns it.

She is that one female character who represents being a feminist in real terms: giving other women the choice that you wouldn't necessarily make for yourself. The way she told Ketu that she doesn't have to share anything that is hers with anyone and how she told maami that she shouldn't feel guilty about not speaking correct English because that is how she will learn and grow and other scenes that I don't remember very clearly abhi and hotstar kaun check karega😛

Hayee! I have so much more to cover that involves the other 3 characters and Nishant but that will start another debate and ye already kaafi lamba ho gaya hai. So, these are the reasons I love her character and the reason I am sad that her character has been made negative to move the story forward since Nishant left😔

Did I justify myself? I am somewhat like this in real life as well. It's like an incurable disease that I have. 🤣

Similar to Maya and Monisha, I can totally imagine Kunal being weirded out because Mishti likes to drinks tea in the tea stall. 😆 That would have been such a fun element in the drama driven show like this 😃

That's really beautiful @aquaHP. The way you define Kuhu, it is really beautiful. She seems completely realistic to me. Since childhood, she's suffered so much, struggled so much. It hurts when the family you had struggled so much to get ignores your feelings just to please someone else. It's not bad of them that they loved Mishti and Mishti too wasn't wrong in her place but everybody overlooked how bad Kuhu must have felt. The family failed to understand a child's insecurities.

And whenever Kuhu wanted to protest, to let her emotions out - the way it came out, to others it appeared as if she's throwing tantrums, is being disrespectful, illogical and immature. Because hey! if your family scolds you or treats you in a certain way that it's for you to become better but they failed to realize that these small issues can make a huge difference in a child's life. After reading your post, I can make out that Kuhu grew up by keeping all her true emotions to herself because nobody cared enough.

And I really don't think that there is anything wrong with Kuhu prefers money and is being materialistic. I mean, who isn't materialistic and is a complete saint in this world? Kuhu cannot be called materialistic for according to me she is practical and realistic. So what if she liked Kunal for his background first. Hasn't she developed a lot since her marriage? She loves her husband dearly and if she hadn't why would she have fought to be with him.

But this is the problem with ITV. They pick up a complex character and then they fail to deal with it and give it proper justice. And then there is the curse of being a second lead/parallel lead which, to be honest, these second lead characters seem nothing more than a prop to me for they are only needed to push the story for the main characters forward.

And as you said, the makers are turning Kuhu's character to negative. This is what ITV is all about, the blacks and the whites - they don't understand the greys.
