Okay so I joined the forum during the chasma sequence...that was the time I actually started seeing the show but went back and saw the previous episodes...since I have never given my take on this ...let my give my 2 cents

The concept of the show is that you should know the person well before taking the most important decision of your life...and I think that track rightly and beautifully showed it

Some people may believe that kunal's character is butchered to highlight Abir..but that's not the case at all...both Abir and Kunal are as different as chalk and cheese except for the fact that both of them love each other unconditionally and are possessive too..with Kunal going a little over possessive

Kunal is someone whom if you see for the first time...he appears to be the best... handsome highly educated and well settled..if you have to decide whom to marry in only one meeting...you will definitely place your bets on Kunal

It's only after you know him ...you realise his inner personality...he is a good man but someone who has male ego...is rude at times..self centred ..over possessive about people he loves ...immature would be a right word

The courtship track was not about who is bad and who is good...it was about compatibility... everyone has flaws..Abir Kunal mishti kuhu...some more some less...but whom you are compatible with that matters...Kunal is wrong for mish but is right for kuhu..it's just the compatibility and understanding that works... chemistry is not just physical looks or romance ..it's more emotional..it's the impact 2 persons create on each other and around

Having that said that I believe the whole courtship track was meant to develop the characters and give a message that

#kyunjhatpatshaadi

#noisanoption

That was how this track was promoted and the message strongly came across

PS: I saw ritvik's sabras interview and he was asked about Kunal...he said the character is flawed may be more on grey side has layers and he wanted to do something different than his previous show..he is aware that he is not main lead but he is happy he is young and can take chances... ritvik is a fab actor.. people like to dislike Kunal...

Your thoughts?

Your thoughts?

you are so right Uru- in first meeting specially just in 5 minutes and it happens in my community(Sadly) one wouldn't get to know the guy.

Same goes for the girl. this decision is for the lifetime and it should not be taken in 5 minutes.

achi khaasi dikhne families apse baatei chupa daalti hai and all

yes they have shown time and again from Mahs family that Kunal wasn't a bad person but not right for them. TBh breaking off the engagement was done very rationally too. I was impressed

Well written, Uru!! It was the highlighted really well. I was pretty darn impressed and I found it a very refreshing concept on ITV.

So true

Every word of yours is correct

It's not about good or bad it's about compatibility

And the show has explained the concept very well

And I think without rishta swapping, CVs haven't given the proper message on no is an option

Great post uru.

I have to applaud the makers for showing this without being preachy. It is a sensitive issue which needs to be discussed and it can happen to anyone. My friend was stuck with an abusive mil and the son didn't care at all - her every wish like what she ate, what she wore was to be according to the mil and the son thought those are small things but they aren't and that's why Abir's bhed Bakri dialogue really hit close to home for me.

She is now happily married to a decent guy, but still .... It happens and it happens all the time - so for the show to raise this concept was really good. :)

The entire track was amazingly done, and ritvik did a fabulous job as Kunal!

But I kind of don't agree with Mishti saying Kunal isn't the right one just for her - I saw glimpses of kunals love for shweth and I did think he was a different guy altogether, but the fact remains that Kunal didn't bother to check mishti's opinions on things and even now he is happy kuhu listens to him and agrees to him, what about him listening to her? That is what relationships are built on - it's a 2 way street.

Until I see kunals character growth/redemption, I am not going to be convinced he is the right guy for anyone. He just isn't husband material.

Awesome post dear.

Even i started watching this show coz of courtship concept. I had not seen this thing on ITV before. During the courtship we got to know how a perfect proposal for any girl can go horribly wrong. Many didn't like the courtship and the cross connection track. But i loved it. I really liked how Mishti with her family's support took the right decision for herself.

Thank you Uru for sharing Ritvik's interview part with us. So he clarified that Kunal is a flawed character with some shades. That means now i can whole heartily hate the character Kunal. It's a compliment for the actor Ritvik.

Mridhu, i totally agree with you regarding whatever you said about Kunal. I don't agree with Mishti that Kunal is the right match for Kuhu. Badepapa raised the appropriate questions whether he will take stand against his mother and protect his wife.

I also believe right now Kunal is suitable for none of the girls...but with time I hope he understands...in the long run kuku may find a midway
