Was the episode today an exaggeration or a true reflection of desi society mindsets?

Sample 1: Mega MCP and all round asshole Kunal who clearly views his wife as a trophy to flaunt stating that Mishti needs to get rid of her glasses cuz they won’t suit her as the wife of a CEO🙄🙄.

The sheer sense of entitlement in this guy is beyond pathetic. And his oh so “slick” attempts to claim “hum” in decisions he makes SOLO is 👎. The constant road rolling over Mishti and then claiming she agrees with his decision without asking her. On top of that snapping at his brother for questioning his decision. Is this really a YOUNGER brother? Amazing what an inflated opinion he has of himself.

Sample 2: Random nurse shows up and tells Mishti that all girls get eye surgery before shaadi🙄. REALLY now? THIS is where desi society is? Getting rid of glasses is on the same level as a body wax in a salon? Wow 👏🏻

Sample 3: Mishti calls Kuhu and asks for an opinion about whether getting rid of glasses will make her less boring 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂. And Kuhu the oh so “lively” says Ofcourse it will 🤷‍♀️😂. Ek se badhkar ek shallow minds hain is story mein.

I was forced to wonder how much of it was exaggeration and how much of it was just a reflection of how truly shallow and superficial society is. I mean, why go far. I’ve read enough views on this site only that fully pass judgements on beauty based on how much makeup a girl has on. Kuhu is automatically considered prettier cuz no glasses, so automatic personality 🤷‍♀️. Lol so perhaps it’s not surprising that a girl like Mishti is grappling with self doubt based on these opinions so common around her.

Such a pity that society is so very superficial.

Thankyou for this post. Im furious, gutted and disturbed by Kunal’s and nurse’s words. I have nothing else to say. This actually does represent the current Indian mindset where on one hand we claim to be so modern and give the feeedom of choice to a girl and on the other hand we are pressurised to please the men. Disguisting!!!

Honestly speaking, I like Mishti for her specs. Because it makes her as the girl next door and more relatable. In real life we are not always be like Kuhu or other female leads shown in the tv shows using so much make up. But it seems the makers takes the easy way for the sake of trp. Also if they wanted to change her look then simply could alter by using specs and and contacts! Why going through Lasik!! I have no idea. May be I was expecting something different in this show, But as usual this becomes lame and typical with each episode. Also as it was narrated earlier both leading characters are lacking the enthusiasm and strength! But again why I expected anything from an indian tv show?!

No dont get disheartned. Actually i saw many people complaining on ig and youtube to change mishtis look. Thats problly why they decided to chabge her look but I dont think she goes through the treatment. I got so workedup as well when i watched it but saw few segments where she might actually refuse to go through it.

This scene grossed me out. What a shallow mind Kunal - and please tell me again why she can't be the CEOs wife with her glasses? Actually why can't she be the CEO with the glasses??

This is as stupid as equating success to fairness in those stupid fairness cream ads.

And the nurse - what the hell? To hell with you people and your sickening thoughts!

Kuhu just gave an answer to mishti's direct question - would she look better without her glasses. If she got the entire context I am sure kuhu would be appalled and would have taken kunals eye out.

Abir said what I was thinking - this is not the same girl who stood up against the society for what was right. This is not the girl who he grew to love.

If she was, Mishti would have told Kunal a straight no. I just hope she doesn't go through with this and retains her glasses. If she does it LL be a wrong message sent out to the audience and that's not done.

This is a very good post and this is unfortunately not an exaggerated representation of society.

I know of people who were asked to undergo more serious forms of surgery to fit into the mound of the ideal wife / Bahu and taking them to the doctor as a surprise is part of this .

Kuhu hit the nail on the head. It will not be long before Mishti loses all her self worth and starts questioning if she is pretty etc. This happens to girls when they are asked to change themselves. At first they go ahead with it but along with that comes a questions as to whether this means they are not good as is and pretty as is in this case.

And let’s not forget Mishti has Abir and bade papa in her life who will stand up for her. Many girls don’t have that friend who will stand up to their in-laws/ spouse.

I am very happy that this kind of a track is brought up👏

OMG yes i am just coming after watching the epi and was to post te same thign WTH was this episode? the shallowness was on next level. Tehre is absolutly no consent taken fromt he girl on whom the surgry is to be performed in anyway neither by kunal the S-hole or teh dr's nurses themselves hone wali pati ne bol diya toh bas bol dia and woh bhi maze se ready ho gayi with no questions asked on his entitlement that uhh hello who are you to decide it for me and when did it became a Decision WE made. what kind of freaking surprise is this that oh yeah let's get your surgry done and then we will have a ceremony in the evening . Funny how the girl also kind of fought for the stupid "courtship" but yahan monh band ho gaya suddenly caz she is told all girls want that? uhmmm Okay

beside which hospital is so vella to take in patients for surgery on walk in basis without any basic tests or appointments made weeks prior to surgery? and i know lasik is fast recovery but itni fast recoery bhi nahi hoti that shaam ko she is ready for a function ...

Oh and Best is this guy basically told her she isn't worthy of being his wife caz she lacks the basic beauty/grooming standards to be his trophy wife neither does he love her as such phir bhi mahaan Mishti ji did not raise the question that uhhh why are you marrying me then??? if i am not upto any of the standards or criteria you have in mind for a wife.

Gosh the dumbesss was mind numbing today

Haven't watched the episode. However, this is the human mindset. Not just Desi. The world gets bum implants, boob jobs, nips and tucks.

If girls get eye surgery before they marry more power to them. Like you said, the issue is how much of it is their own choice. I'd argue many dont want to wax their bikini lines but end up having to. Where does one draw the line?

Sadly, modernity seems to have no bearing on how women are viewed by society. By and large, they are still just viewed as objects to own and change as needed 😒
