They said he runs an NGO - but apart from that not shown what his job is - maybe he is into photography? Shown in the initial episodes, he was clicking pics of everything.

See, careers don't matter on Indian TV 'cause they will anyway be home all the time to play fall-catch with their spouses and resolve saas-bahu fights.

Abir definitely does not work for someone else 'cause no way his schedule can be so flexible. He probably is an entrepreneur or something where he is his own boss 'cause he isn't a person who enjoys people bossing him over (hint hint: Big Ben)
