after a point of time you just can't watch a itv show for its plot. I don't even think it's possible. You just have watch it for superficial reasons like good looks, chemistry, performances. Basically anything that entertains you or makes you feel good. Also these shows are meant to be watched as one episode or track at a time. Trp audience doesn't remember what happened a year ago. And they are the target audience for these shows
ITV is the last place you should be looking if you want morality plays …today even coherent story telling has taken a hit …there is absolute disconnect between episodes even, be it in terms of how tracks or characters are written …the writing is nakedly manipulative simply because the sole intent is to trigger the audience …since the audience is primarily female, the FL automatically becomes the holy cow …her actions cannot be used as triggers and if they are, the narrative will always make sure to justify her …the ML is comparatively dispensable when it comes to who can be the fall guy .. so invariably it is the story of an indecisive man or someone who is triggered to the point of doing horrible things that will turn the FL’s life upside down and make her an object of pity or sympathy …even their claims of women’s empowerment are so hollow, with DKP’s own Anupama being a prime example …so why are we even looking for anything sensible here ..it is like some kind of comfort watch, maybe because of the familiarity given most of us have been exposed to ITV since childhood …the stories are of families invariably and so the situations are mildly relatable at times..but the characters definitely aren’t ….neither are they role models …just watch it for what you like and discard what you don’t …if I have to judge a character based on today, what about all that he or she has done from Day 1…so you have to keep going Ctrl+ Alt+Del before every track almost
I have to watch a show for 20 minutes a day ,.so good acting, good looks and chemistry are my basic requirements …the story changes with every track, so do character arcs ..,with such patent inconsistency, I wouldn’t want to waste my energy judging them or sending love letters to the writers on a daily basis on how terrible their characters are ..,I am choosing to watch despite all of this ..the day I can’t take it anymore, I’ll stop …each one to their own …so you can rant and judge if you want but don’t expect everyone to follow your lead ..and no one else is going to expect you to be like them either ..,just live and let live on this common space that is open to opinions and debates of all hues !
I have been watching this show for Armaan for a long time because he interests me for a whole lot of reasons ..,and if it was just about good looks, then I have a hundred others to pick from .,so it is not just that ..something about him resonates with me .,so I watch ,,if he is cliffed, I’ll just move on thereafter ..because what the writers do with the characters is their prerogative ..we can discuss and analyse characters where there is consistency .,,where there is none, just go with the flow and enjoy what you can or let go altogether if you don’t want to...but if venting on the forum is cathartic, then that’s good too .,,each to their own !
