That's the thing but, he is and always will be Abhir's father, there is no question of that. But it's the insistence that ONLY he can be the father when the blood father also loves Abhir, who does love him back, is where for me there is a disconnect. He is insecure or afraid of losing his child and his place in Abhir's life, but Abhir himself said you are most important and I don't want to leave you, which he can't trust for some reason, and thats not ok for me because he only has no faith on his upbringing and keeps reducing it to blood ka rishta nai hai.
Initially, he was being the most sane, pushing for co parenting with Abhimanyu, yes he kept moving between mera beta, aapka beta and humara beta but I am gonna put that down to bad writing and not a bad trait since he has shown selfless love towards a boy who became his son. But the minute he saw BP putting his foot down, the minute he gained confidence through BP's over confident that they will win solo custody and Abhir will never know his father's name, that's when they ruined Abhinav as a father for me because he started insisting Abhimanyu stays away and supporting Akshara in something she was doing only for revenge and in her anger. When they made him suggest breaking Abhir's heart, when they made him say your father wants to take you away from us, that's when he failed as a father for me. Because in these situations, he got selfish about what he wants, which is also ok, but he completely disregarded Abhir's possible future and his heart and needs. He is still Abhir's father and again, always will be, but his and Akshara's zidd to delete Abhimanyu from his life us what has gotten them to be bad parents, not their upbringing or blood and all.
