i too watched many shows where richness shown and people give trp for that sets and weightage of character. That way people get attracted to that decor and shown aura give trps more i should not name shows . But it's general perspective of common people who watch for that. The reason why ppl keep ml as rich is because if show has poor ml story se zyada focus uske paise kaise kamayega uspe hoha. The only show i rememember where ml was shown poor was pavithra rishta and kayamath but it was themed like that as ml was poor and fl marries him due to lie and she does everythinh to full fill that marriage. But every show can not have same theme.
If show characters only focus on earning money they can not experiment much nor they can show them celebrating festivals as trp ppl will consider it as paisa karch. Even buying expensive gifts dinner nights will reduce. They will get a track where ml turns poor but they will ml rich again after somedays.
Like even if anuj don't go to office for entire week nobody will ask him as they know he has ppl who are working under him but if they show ml as poor then they can not hold him back through out the show as questiom will be raised paisa aatha kaha se iske pass. As ppl tend to compare themselves with the character. So making a show lead as poor reduces the scope of celebrations as you mentioned and flexibility of using that character like he cant take vacation always and they can show ml going to office in a show as who wants to see what he does in his office unless fl is part of his office. 😊
My mom raises lot many questions on vanraj's family like they don't even work how they spend so much. They don't have money for anything but they have money to celebrate festival like king. Since anupama also had baa and anu character it will keep them hooked even after so many complaints but shows where we don't have such character it will not work for trp viewers.
