The whole premise of Abhira is Abhimanyu forced Akshara to accept her feelings for him by faking an engagement with her sister and threatening her with suicide. Gaslighting and emotional abuse are implicit in their relationship from the very beginning.

You can perhaps debate on whether his character is abusive or not, debate upon the severity of the abuse dealt but his actions on white day definitely were. As far as the severity is concerned, severity toh is decided based upon the effect and impact on the person the abuse was dealt to. We all know the effect it had on Akshara. Even Abhimanyu understands very well the kind of person she is and the effect and impact of some of his accusations would have had on her -- hadn't he seen it firsthand what Arohi's accusations had done to her? What kind of person she was?

Abhimanyu was in anger -- he wanted to make Akshara hurt -- and he chose the sharpest, most poisonous arrow in his arsenal, a knowledge he was trusted with by her loved ones, by her -- and shot her with it. Anger is often an unconscious process. You can call Abhimanyu many things, if you're to romanticize him, call him a tragic hero with a fatal flaw. Don't brush his actions under the carpet though.
