Part 4 :
Naitik wakes up in a hurry the next morning realising he's late for work, he meets jhumki on his way out who ready to charm naitik is in her shorts and tshirt . Naitik tells her "oh please! What is all this? Tumhe ho kya Gaya, Sab kya sochen ge" and gives her a disappointed look and leaves off for work. Every minute throughout the day he thinks over it, did he really make the right decision & whenever he started thinking about it, he got depressed.. There was nothing he could do now. It was too late. After getting free from work, naitik remembered he had to go over to aksharas to get the ring back. He had checked up on her address by asking Dadda Ji where her dadi lived.
Naitik reached akshara's house and rang the bell a number of times but no-one answered. He tried for one last time and heard a noise, he decided to wait for a couple of minutes.. The door was opened by a sleepy Akshara who was in her Pajamas and her hair was all messy. She yawned and stared at him. It then hit her that he was there to get the ring. She let him in and told him to sit down in the living room till she went and got the ring from her room. She went inside and looked in the mirror. She looked like a mess, not that she cared but no one but her family members saw this side of akshara.. The messy, lazy side of akshara. She had slept really late at night and had just woken up to see she was home alone. She wondered where everyone had gone and after that the doorbell started ringing. She quickly grabbed the ring and decided she should put it in a box. She headed out of her room into the store room where she would find one. It was a small room with a single cupboard with things like sewing kits, bags and boxes, etc. naitik who was getting late saw her go in there and decided to ask her to make it quick since he was in a hurry. He entered the store room but accidentally the door got locked and akshara turned around and bumped straight into his face! Their foreheads collided and instantly akshara backed off.. Naitik saw a spider on akshara's neck and decided to Flick it off with his finger. Akshara a little taken aback slapped naitik on his face. & she started off I'm anger! "oh so this is the type of guy you are I wasn't mistaken you're a complete jerk how dare you touch me!? What sort of a girl do you think I am" without giving him a chance to explain she quickly started opening the door, after a few attempts with the key she managed to open it. She thrashed the ring in his hand without the box and pushed him out the door of the house with anger. That is why she had never bothered trying to be friends with boys. Somehow she felt like they weren't worth it, they would misuse girls and all that was shown in movies was utter rubbish! She was glad that she wasn't one of the stupid girls who guys could trick. She was glad she had enough strength to answer back and Make people ashamed of their actions. She made up her mind never to talk to naitik again.
Naitik was a bit hurt, not because of anything else but the fact that for the first time in his life someone had accused him of having a loose character. All his life he had made sure that he respects girls because that is what Dadda Ji and had taught him that is why it was also easy for him to have girls as his friends because he treated them all like sisters. He shrugged at the thought that someone who he barely knew had judged him like that. Later at night, naitik kept wondering whether it was being judged that was bothering him or was it being judged by akshara..
Jhumki had gotten a great scholarship at the university of arts in the states. She knew what this meant she would have to go away for five years. She was very keen to take the scholarship because painting had always been her passion and she did want to have a future for herself. But she was worried about how and what naitik and Dadda Ji would have to say about this and would naitik go along with her or would she have to maintain a long distance relationship? So many questions circled around in her head. She was distressed so she decided it would be best to go over to naitiks to discuss this. The spooner she did it, the sooner her future would be decided.
She walked in when naitik and Dadda Ji were sitting on the table eating, they asked her to join them so she sat next to naitik and held his hand & went on to describe the situation she was in. Dadda Ji went on to say that he wanted them to get married this year only. Jhumki replied that she & naitik could have a quick wedding this week and both of them could head to the states. To which instantly naitik objected, jhumki how can I leave all this here? I can't leave Dadda Ji , my job all of a sudden ? I don't have a visa or enough money to support you in a foreign country. And what will I do there? It's too much of a sacrifice for me which I am not willing to make. He said in an annoyed tone, he thought jhumki was being awfully selfish. He cared about her dreams but not enough to abandon the man who had brought him up single handedly. Jhumki was very disappointed on hearing this. Dadda Ji looked at naitik with a disapproving glare and said "Nahi beta, naitik please don't stay back because of me.. Mera kya hai.. You have your whole life ahead of you!" jhumki said or we can have a long distance relationship. Naitik got up from his chair and decided it was time, he had had enough, he was not so desperate to have jhumki in his life. He quickly told her it wasn't going to work out that way and it was better now than later to end this relationship.. Jhumki nearly in tears gave him the ring back but naitik gave it back to her saying he wants her to keep it In memory of their friendship and that he wants her to succeed in every sphere of her life and wanted her to always be happy. Jhumki understood because she too herself knew how important these things were to naitik and because she realized naitik never cared for her in the way she wanted him to. She took the ring and said goodbye.
Naitik told Dadda Ji that it was probably not god's will that's why it didn't work out & told him not to worry. Dadda Ji left silently.. Naitik couldnt sleep all night. He was so confused. He was in a messy situation. But he was content with his desicion but he was upset at having broken jhumki's heart. She was leaving for the States in a weeks time and naitik realized he hadn't just lost his fianc, he was Losing his best friend too.
Finally the day arrived when jhumki had to leave. Naitik was all set to drop her off at the airport while her parents stayed at home, trying to persuade themselves that she would be able to manage.
Naitik carried her luggage and put it in the trunk, the entire way to the hospital not a word was exchanged between the two.
Akshara was headed to the airport to pick up shaurya Dadu who was returning from a business trip, she was excited for he was finally coming back after a long time and she had been bored staying at home, helping around in the kitchen, reading, she was missing the excitement in her life, and with shaurya Dadu's return there was bound to be excitement because shaurya had told akshara on the phone that there was a surprise for the family that he had finally found someone on the trip and she was coming to Udaipur to meet them two days after his arrival. Akshara was indeed delighted!
Akshara was waiting impatiently for shaurya Dadu to arrive.. When all of a sudden he saw him, naitik, sobbing softly as he hugged jhumki good bye. They shared a last goodbye and she left, naitik was sad because she had helped him through a lot and today he wasn't upset because of the broken relationship but because she was leaving and he would no longer have a friend as close!
Akshara was quite amused to see him cry like that for his fianc, wow she thought, she hadn't seen many guys shed tears for their partners. Finally he left without even looking at her once,
Shaurya Dadu arrived and akshara greeted him joyfully & they too headed home.
At night akshara lay in bed thinking what was up with this guy? One moment akshara couldn't stand him, one moment she felt like she hadn't seen someone as genuine as him.. She was confused because she couldn't seem to form an opinion about him because of the weird encounters they had!
Summers finally arrived and naitik took a break from his job as he was thinking of a new job and he also needed to spend quality time with Dadda Ji..who had taken a while but finally forgiven naitik for breaking his relationship.
Akshara was terribly bored with what was happening in life. Shaurya dadu's wedding was a whole month away. And Maa & dadi were busy with the work, shopping and what not. They had decided to leave akshara at home only when they went out because akshara would get too frustrated when they took hours at the tailors! Akshara needed something to do so she decided to join some volunteer work. She took up some work in an old age home.. Strangely Dadda Ji had a few friends in that particular old age home whom he used to visit. Akshara had a particular respect and love for old people since dadi had always been a loving wise and beautiful grandparent to her. Naitik came to drop Dadda Ji off when akshara happened to be leaving. Aksharas foot twisted when she was crossing the road to head back to her street and naitik happened to see her yell out In pain while all other drivers/passerbys left without helping.. Naitik who couldn't help see someone in suffering immediately offered to help her. Akshara agreed, naitik helped her sit down on the side and drive her to the doctors. The doctor said it was nothing and her foot would be fine by tomorrow. When akshara came out of the cabin she was shocked to see naitik there.. He asked if everything was okay. She replied that it was fine, and thanked him. Naitik offered to drive her back to her house. Akshara who was In no mood to walk back agreed.. There was an air of silence as he drove her back.. And all of a sudden his eyes met hers in the rear view mirror, as she got off and thanks him again for his help. Naitik replied " I only did for humanity, no need to thank me! And by the way, you misunderstood me the other day, I was not doing what you thought I was" and with that he drove past her. She could not help but smile. She finally had an opinion about him, he was a kindhearted person who she began to gradually admire.
