Akshara's Column: If change is beneficial, we must adapt

Hi friends. I am really scared and confused right now, as the doctor has informed me that since the baby's position is not right, I may have to undergo a caesarean. Gayatri ma and Bhabhima have told me about the negative aspects of having a caesarean and this has made me even more nervous.

After visiting my gynaecologist for a regular check-up, I learnt that my baby was not in the right position for delivery, and this made me anxious. Moreover Gayatri ma and Bhabhima are completely against me opting for a caesarean. But my doctor has explained each and everything to me, she has assured me that a caesarean is safe and sometimes it is necessary for a safe birth. My doctor has said that many ladies in today's times ask for a caesarean as they want to avoid the pain, but in my case it is not about the pain, but due to the position that I may have to go in for a caesarean. Sometimes the older generation is resistant to change and do not want to do things a certain way, as it was not used in their times and they do not understand it. But we must calmly try to make them understand the positive aspect of the situation.

Naitik and my entire maika have understood my dilemma and completely support me in the decision that I take. Although I do feel that using the traditional, natural method is the best, if it is neccesary to opt for a caesarean, then I will consider it. It is extremely important to think practically about the pros and cons of any situation, before making a decision.
