Yeah... "Thare bahu ke mathhe par palla na hai????"

Thats the most wierd thing.

Can anyone tell me what is the significance of a PALLA!!!!... How does it make someone more respectable? What is the logic here? How does it make someone more conservative?.... How does it help in anything!!!!

Can anyone give a clue?

I think Pallu is a symbol of being respectful to ur elders.....Back then it was expected from married women to have a pallu on thier forhead after they get married..may be b/c we had more joint family.....plus old generation rituals carring on for ages....However, now its not mandatory to have a pallu on the forhead except if ur elders force u to do it.....which in this case is happening.....I knew Sighania family was conservative but not to the point of not letting u go to watch a movie or go on a trip with ur HUSBAND...there are still some families where it carries on....but I dont kno y they are encouraging this behavior in this soap.....may be they want to show how Akshara breaks though all these conservatism.....dont kno wat is the purpose of this soap.....dont agree with it most of the time.....

well i can think of only one reason for this pallu pratha...to keep ur body as much covered as possible, bas leave some space to breathe ! that's bec. men of the family don't put "buri nazar " on their bahus and beti's...bec. they look totally unattractive then....i'm sorry for being harsh but this is what they meant na? pallu laaj hoti hai? Daddaji can think of buying those Talibani burqa for Akshara..

i was thinking if pallu meant for respect then, naitik also should cover his head ... why respect for elders meant for married woman? why married men shy away from this?

i heard somewhere in ancient times, open hair was kept by prostitutes only to attract men..and married females r not supposed to attract any "male" other than her husband..ab in a family therez her father , sasur, brother in law etc. etc....the rule applies for everybody..tht shows that male members of the family are "lose character"
