see i agree young minds are influenced but at the end of the day, we must know where to draw the line ..reality is reality which everybody has to face..and fiction is fiction & it should be taken that way...if we say that tv soaps influence us then what about other mediums? we share our thoughts with our family, friends..we have TV, we have bollywood, we have International TV channels at our disposal.........the ladies gossip everyday , we hear all kinds of diff. stories frm diff. ppl. about their experiences of married life, they also can influence our thoughts in some way ...but then if we don't filter that info, then tht's our fault....our society in India is progressing......and a tv show can't take us back to the stone age..if they can influence us that much, the fault lies in our thinking...

Charu, you and I and all of us here on the forum are fortunate to be mature, educated women who can "filter" through stuff...we do not internalize daddi's pravachans, or Akshara's tears, or Varsha's illogical thoughts...BUT, in India and around the world, there are millions of young women out there who are so sheltered and watch these type of shows (and may not be able to FF the crappy parts), who are very much affected by what is shown EVERYDAY. They are my concern...I am sure there is a 16 year old out there in the real world who has watched Akshara's "khamoshi ki bhasha" and thought that the boy who she has a crush on will understand her own "khamoshi ki bhasha."

Out of the 9 main female characters on this show, why can't one be shown as having some sort of a backbone, education, and able to speak her mind? And if and when a character does speak her mind, why is it with a whole bucket of tears? I am sorry to say but when it comes to a "social message" for women, this show is taking us back to the stone age...there is absolutely NOTHING positive in how women and their role is portrayed in this serial so far...I don't watch any other Indian TV shows so I can't speak for them...This show is so successful; why not use that success as a platform to show some female empowerment...I do hope they make Akshara and Varsha's characters stronger and more independent as we move forward...

yes nandalala.. they show women being womanly but also having the brains & guts to operate in this century... I don't like when they show woman being agressive, I am better than a man crap, but being feminine but at the same time a little more assertive and control of their life...
OK, Aksh has no head for studies, she just wants to be a housewife, nothing wrong in it... but atleast Varsha should strive to be more than she is... she has a supportive in-laws, husband who readily agrees that she is more mature and intelligent than him.. they should show her doing MBA and joining company business....
They can show Rashmi & Nandini esp. Nandini assert herself, saying I want more out of life than sitting useless in a wheelchair, I was hoping that would come out from her earlier depression, but back to square one.... she is artistic, so she can do jewellery design, come up with concepts etc...
Even Aksh should get involved in home making.. though hard for her since she is submissive and sensitive, but slowly show her getting stronger, carve her identity in a new household instead of all this useless saas-bahu issues, if you behave like a five year old, you will get treated like a five year old....

Absolutely...well said... 👏 👏 ⭐️ ⭐️ ...I couldn't have said it any better...give these characters a purpose other than kitchen duty, making sour faces, and weeping buckets...

Great thread. The women can still follow family values and be modern! They don't have to cry each time they hit a bump. Be brave, independent, and confident and speak up when a wrong is done to you!
All these women just keep all their problems inside and then let it grow. This is not good for the mind or the body.

They are not here to teach morality but to make some money... so just enjoy guys and take a break when such stuff is shown which you all don't like....i do the same😆

..

I totally understand where you're coming from by the above statement 😃 but seriously how long will we tolerate and keep saying hey its just fiction lighten up!!!! thats why these writers keep coming back to the screen with these brain dead ideas..cause they know the majority of female Population will accept this humiliation of our sex..cause majority of us think its just entertainment..well seriously i think its time that viewers smarten up to what we are watching in our homes..cause everything we do...and watch make an impact..somewhere or another...
I also think its very sad that it would seem that in general we will watch anything and make it acceptable because of a pretty face or a handsome guy is in it.....ugggg...when will we all learn that beauty shouldnt be just skin deep...cuase if you scratch the surface of this show, there is nothing but ugliness hidden behind it.... this show is making a mockery of all relations...!!!!!! okay and after that rant.(feels good just getting it off my chest)😆 i dont mind saying yeah its just a show..so lighten up...😉

Very nice topic. I agree with all the points given. The women in this show should definitely be shown standing up for themselves and for what's right.. they should have a backbone to support them when they face an obstacle.

I don't think there's any hope for the older generation [Daadi, Rajshri, Sunaina, Mata G, Bhabhi Ma], but there's alot of scope for the younger women to grow stronger from within and from the outside.
I agree with the points given for Varsha. She has always been the smart one... then why did she tolerate all the pressure that Rajshri was putting upon her with the baby issue..?! I was disappointed in this track.
But I hope Akshi and Varsha.. as well as Rashmi and Nandini are shown to be stronger in the future where they can take care of their own households and still be at par with the women of this century. :)

oh wow..Anjali ur soo right...i'm at loss of words now 😃 i've always said this ke they show women as a weaker sex and tht's one problem not only with yrkkh but with almost all tv soaps...

yes ur right..we're educated , broad minded and well read..that's why we're discussing this ....but i dun understand how all this will influence impressionable minds 😃 akshara and her khamoshi, well all of us do the same mistakes..marriage is a new phase in everybody's life..problems come and go, we do mistakes, we learn from them, we repeat the mistakes..life goes on like that...that's why i said tht realities of married life can be experienced only after getting married....few ppl. might develop preconceived notions n have this impression that MIL's are bad..in laws r this n that..but my dear, that's a reality with the Indian joint family system...we have to face these problems on day to day basis....

Also, all the problems shown in yrkkh exist but may be in some other form...like nobody will stop us frm watching movies but parents wud object if their children go for discos, late night partying, making MMS 🤢 watching po*n..yucks ! this is the result of freedom and overexposure.......with MIL's, they're showing it perfectly...it's exactly the way it's shown in yrkkh for newly weds..if not after 1 day then 1 month or year...but every girl goes through this...

yes, the basic characterizations should be better...bec. they must set an example for other women..females must step out of the kitchen, stop treating their husbands like their children, stop this game of self pity , not standing up for themselves, not speaking up, following men blindly, stop kitchen politics, back biting..women are devoid of basic rights here..like education..which is most important....i agree with u, therez no social message here and therez no one positive female character....yrkkh is flawed there....

i agree with both of you.today's generation is changing a lot and they are still showing the dadi generation.women are emotional but not weak.i hope CV"S will change the track and show akshara and varsha as strong characters.
