Hina Khan aka Akshara of STAR Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is undergoing a makeover in real life .Apart from getting a new portfolio made, she has also taken up driving lessons.

An Indya source tells us, "She has developed a new passion for driving and after pack-up she is usually seen driving around Filmcity Studios. She is a good student and very enthusiastic as well. She is also planning to learn swimming and will be enrolling at a gym to keep fit. Every actor dreams of playing a different role, a role that they admire. Our tele stars are no different either. They have their own inspirations within the industry itself. When we asked some of our tele stars about the role that they would like to essay, they were only too glad to convey their aspirations to TellyCafe.

Let's now see what they had to say:-

Kritika Kamra
I would love to play Nupur of 'Mile Jab Hum Tum' fame. Although Rati PandeyNupur's role from 'Mile Jab…'. I absolutely love the sweetness of the character. And the way the role has been shaped and moulded is simply amazing!

Kapil Nirmal

does it beautifully and seems best suited for it, I would love to do it on television too. My vote goes to I like Yudi's character the most but would love to act in the character of 'Keshav Pandit' of Zee TV, if I get a chance of opting for some other role. It's definitely interesting! If not Yudi then Keshav Pandit would have been my choice.

Divyanka Tripathi

Hmm… I would love to be 'Jhansi Ki Rani'. My mom always says that you would have been best suited as Rani Lakshmi Bai. I would also love to act in a role of such historical eminence, that too, a legendary character like her. I keep admiring 'Jhansi Ki Rani' whenever the show is aired on television and feel that I could have done it better.

Nikhil Chadda

I would love to do Dutta Bhau from 'Laagi Tujse Lagan'. I simply love his personality. The character is very intense with various shades. This role is my first choice, therefore. The character has a lot of courage and aggressiveness that attracts me.

Daljit Kaur

I want to essay a character like Ammaji from 'Iss Des Na Aaana Lado' even if it doesn't suit my age. Its not that I like the negative shades, but I do admire the strength of the character. The power that the character wields makes me want to do it. It always been my dream to essay such strong roles. Ammaji just rocks!

Abhishek Rawat

I don't want to play the lovey-dovey roles at all. I want to be in Sony TV's C.I.D or play similar characters. Or else, I would love to play the role of Pankaj Kapoor in 'Office Office', the character of Musaddi Lal, who is a common man but handles different situations ideally.

Ratan Rajput

I always wanted to play Gangu Bai, the character admirably played by our little darling Saloni Daini. She makes people laugh. I had made people cry before and am done with the crying now. I would love to be Gangu Bai and make the viewers laugh for a change.

Karan Mehra

I don't see any character which inspires me from the current lot of serials but yes, the character of Hiten Tejwani as Karan in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahi Thi' was awesome and I admire it deeply. I still think that I could have played the role well as I feel it was best suited for me.

TellyCafe wishes all our Television actors success with their dream projects, All the best, hope you get your dream roles soon.

Ali back on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

It's celebration time on Star Plus Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as the Singhania family is preparing for the impending wedding of Nandini and Mohit.

More on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai : Discuss here | Watch full episodes | Official Website

As expected, their relatives, both close and far off are going to be a part of this occasion. And with this, Ali Merchant who essays the role of Rituraj, Naitik's (Karan Mehra) cousin, will make a comeback on the show for the third time.

Says Merchant, "Yes, I am making a comeback on the show. Actually, I wouldn't term it as a comeback because this is my cameo appearance number three on the show. It feels as if I have returned from a holiday. I have already been on the show twice and this is my third time. The entire cast has become like family and it always feels great to shoot with them."

Talking about how this cameo is going to be different from the last two, Ali says, "I will be accompanied by my wife, played by rookie actress Preeti. She is a perfect mix of beauty and brains. She is a perfectionist and intelligent. She is someone who the entire family looks up to."

The popular show has always registered a rise in viewership when it brings back Ali's track and it is likely that this will be a hatrick. Will Ali's comeback with his oh-so perfect wife create troubles for Akshara and Naitik? Will the family draw comparisons among the two couples? It remains to be seen.

For now watch the lover boy re-enter and cast his spell on you on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai at 9:30 pm on Star Plus.

Though he claims to be different from his reel life character, Karan Mehra seems to be talking the same language as Naitik. It's his politeness that wins your heart both on and off the screen. At times, you really wonder whether you are really taking to the one of the most popular actors on television. Thrown him a punch, and he's bound to throw a rose back at you! It's this calm approach that makes him popular not just with his fans, but also with the media.

Be it the 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', equation with Hina Khan, Hollywood aspirations or Nisha, Karan Mehra bares it all to TellyCafe's Mayur Lookhar.

A year and half later, where do you think 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' stands today?

We're still in a good position. There's a lot of drama still to be told that will keep the viewers on their toes. Akshara and Naitik's relationship, too, is growing I'm sure there'll plenty more of twists and turns to come.

The ratings have dropped in the last few weeks. There's is a perception that the ratings have dropped because the current track doesn't focus much on Naitik and Akshara.

Well, nobody raised this question for a year and half, but at the moment the TRPs have dipped slightly and you come up with this. We're hoping that this is just a phase and I'm sure it will pass as the story develops.

To answer you second point, I don't think Akshara or Naitik are being sidelined. In fact, they are getting more footage, more romantic scenes than the soon-to-be-married Mohit and Nandini.

The shelf life of soaps have decreased. A year later, most shows reach a saturation point. Is it the same for 'Yeh Rishta..?

No, we still have two years to go for that. In the last couple of years, the audience's expectation have really risen. It's become tough to live up to them. These expectations aren't limited to TV, the audience even laughs at the follies committed by the biggest Bollywood stars. They have become more intelligent now than before.

Honestly speaking, would you like your show to last for a decade?

(Pauses) Ah! I really can't predict that. Ayee, don't think I see myself doing the show for that long. Naitik with grow with time. It all depends upon the viewer's taste. If they want the show to continue, then I see no harm in doing it.

What's going to be the next high point in the show?

I've got no clue. At the moment, Karan is very tired of shooting rigorously. Currently, it's all about Mohti-Nandini's marriage.

You were once quoted in a report saying that films were your ultimate destination, but you want to graduate to films from television. However, TV binds your feet. It doesn't allow you the time to do a film?

Every actor likes to be versatile and thus he/she needs to explore such avenues. It's a common perception that once you do TV, you don't get a foothold into films. However, the trend is changing with TV actors going to films and vice versa. My dream is to go to Hollywood. It might take some time, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

After having assisted the likes of Ram Gopal Verma and Raju Hirani, ideally, you should have targeted films first. Was it really a difficult task to land a film?

Well, I've done (Love Story: 2050). Unfortunately, not many are even aware of it as most of my scenes were chopped off. Well, it's not as easy as it may seem. The most important thing is that even if you get a film, it has to succeed. If not, then you may never get a film again. Thus it's important to make the right choice.

If tomorrow you were to bag a big banner film, will you then leave 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'?

At the moment, I'm committed to 'Yeh Ristha Kya Kehlata Hai'. However, if something really good comes up, then it won't be easy to do justice. A film takes time to complete; besides it goes through other processes before it finally hits the screens. You have to be precise in your decision-making. Even if I leave 'Yeh Rishta..' for a film, I will always comeback to television. You must never forget your roots.

You've really liked Shahid Kapur in Kaminey, and would love to play such a role. Your fans might say that you're too good a guy to play a grey role.

People have appreciated SRK in DDLJ, but they also loved him for his role in Darr. As an actor you must try different things. I feel that I can be pretty bad. If not anything, I can surely remove my frustrations through a Kaminey-type role.

Hina Khan says that she mimics you on the sets. How do you retaliate?

Is it? I really don't know. Honestly, I'm a through professional who just sticks to his work. I don't talk much to Hina Khan or anyone else on the sets. I'm a very conservative person by nature. After the director says cut-off, I usually spend my free time in my room.

Not socializing with even producer Rajan Shahi?

Yes, I hardly talk to him too. In fact, Rajanji himself says that I'm the most peaceful actor he's worked with. I am a thorough professional, one who doesn't like to get personal with colleagues.

Fashion designer, Actor, social worker, businessman! What's closest to your heart?

It has to be acting. After all, that is what keeps me alive. I'd like the others to follow smoothly. As for social work, I've always believed in giving back to the society.

Finally, when will Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal tie the knot?

Perhaps, late next year. Honestly, we haven't thought of settling. There are a lot of things which need to happen before we can settle down in life. There's still a long way to go in our respective careers.

Ayush Agarwal, who essays the role of Mohit in Star Plus's 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' is smacked around regularly by the ladies from the sets. Be it, Akshara (Hina Khan) or Varsha Bhabhi (Pooja Joshi) or someone else. They all gang up together and hit him on the sets. Of course it not simply a case of the poor guy getting beaten up for fun. He has a serious vice which compels the ladies to do so.

A source from the sets informs, "Ayush always gets smacked by the ladies because the guy really has a most annoying habit of touching the lady while talking to her. And that's what really irritates them. He refuses to listen when asked to move away and converse. Consequently, he gets punched by the ladies in question.

An anonymous actress from 'Yeh Rishta… sets says, "Yes, Mohit (Ayush Agarwal) has a very bad habit of touching a person and talking to her or him which is really annoying. As a result, he gets a nice smacking from us all (Laughs). And he deserves it. Until and unless, he forgoes the habit, he is going to get a beating from all of us."

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Ayush? We can only suggest that you better improve, Ayush!

You've seen them swish their pallus and cry buckets. But have you ever imagined the good girls of Indian television swap the glycerine for the sexy lip gloss and smouldering eyeshadow? Well, on screen they might be the conservative ghunghat-clad bahus, but off screen these leading ladies are divas when it comes to their style quotient. Here's a look at some of the leading ladies of Indian television in their glam avatar.

Sara Khan: Sadhna of the popular show Sapna Babul Ka ... Bidaai is mostly seen in saris and salwaar kameez on screen. While not shooting, this trendy ladette can be spotted chilling out in western casuals. Even during award functions the petite actor ditches the ethnic look for a more glamorous avatar that is sure to send shock-waves among her fans. Quite a difference from what she is on screen.

Pallavi Subhash: Ever since she made her debut in Indian television, Pallavi Subhash has been typecast as the traditional bahu or beti. Fed up with the stereotyping this lead actor decided to go for a change in image and voila! Out comes the babe in her! A glam photoshoot later, Pallavi is out there to prove that not only can she carry of those Indian outfits and characters, but given a chance can prove that she is no less a glam girl.

Richa Soni: While playing a Bihari bahu in Sabki Jodi Wohi Banata ... Bhagya Vidhata, one cannot get the picture of a traditionally clad Bindiya out of their minds. But off screen Richa Soni accentuates her best features — those long legs — in short skirts and knee length boots. A trendy haircut to compliment and attitude to match makes this girl a babe in real life.

Mahi Vij: The former model who shot to dizzy heights after the best-selling Tu Hai Wohi music video, got her big break on telly as the ugly duckling in Laagi Tujh Se Lagan. But unfortunately she has to keep her picture-perfect looks under cover due to the storyline. While in the show Nakusha might be the simpleton, in real life, Mahi sure knows how to turn the heat on when she's partying.

Hina Khan: The eternally ghunghat- clad Akshara of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a far cry from what she in on screen. Though she does not go the dare bare way in real life, her off screen avatar is anything but uptight. With trendy outfits and hair let loose, the actor shows off her carefree attitude when she's not shooting.

Ragini Khanna: Known for her spunk and bubbly demeanour, Ragini Khanna is currently the typical TV bahu clad in those six yards in Sasural Gendha Phool. While she might seem comfortable in a sari, off screen it's just western outfits for the actor, which highlights her spunky attitude and youthful looks.

    Ali-Sara renege on Karan- Nisha

Ali Merchant and Sara Khan back out of the joint venture they started with Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal
On 10th January, 2010, Ali Merchant, Sara Khan, Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal launched their ambitious acting school named RIRO – Reel In, Real Out. It was Ali's dream project and the other three were more than happy to support and invest in this venture.

However, just in a span of six months, things have taken a drastic turn. Ali Merchant and Sara Khan have backed out of the project.

We spoke to Nisha Rawal who says, "Yes, Ali and Sara have backed out of RIRO."

When asked the reason for the duos back out Nisha said, "I would not like to comment further on this matter as things have not been finalized officially."

Ali Merchant on the other hand clearly stated the reason for quitting RIRO. "I and Sara are too busy with our respective projects. We were not able to devote much time to RIRO. It only made sense we withdrew altogether." However, he contradicts Nisha's statement saying, "The partnership has been officially dissolved on 1st June."

Ali along with girlfriend Sara launches his Luxury Lounge on the 21st of June. Nope, we're not hinting at anything!
